In before Karla Hurefureinpfennig proclaims doom. Yeah, seems Ukraine hit a minor oil refinery in Lugansk and killed people. The net impact on the war? Not all that much. Just goes to show that all the wonderwaffles NATO gives Ukraine will only be used in civilian attacks on people that oddly enough Elensky says are Ukrainian. Kinda weird to hit those you say are your own civilians but he is a complete arsehead. My prediction, the NATO forces who are orchestrating these attacks (in this case British) will be dying of "natural causes" or "training accidents" very soon.

Six more Ukrainians drown trying to flee abroad – media
Dozens have lost their lives in the treacherous mountain river waters while attempting to evade the draft

Six bodies were discovered in the Tisza River on Ukraine’s western border on Monday, according to a local journalist. Dozens of people have reportedly died in the river while attempting to flee Ukraine since Kiev ramped up its conscription efforts.

According to local media reports however, six bodies were found on Monday, four of them on the Ukrainian side and two on the Romanian side of the Tisza. “One of the men had recently turned 20 years old,” local journalist Vitaly Glagola wrote on Telegram, warning of the dangers of attempting to cross the treacherous mountain river.

General Aleksandr Pavlyuk, who heads the Ukrainian Land Forces, argued in March that any sympathy for the “poor people drowning in the Tisza” undermines the mobilization effort.

This type was made as anti-drone/heli weapon, tasked for covering the drone swarms from air attack.
R-73 has a lock-on before launch type of seeker, with a field of view +/- 45 deg. In a most optimistic scenario, it can lock-on at a distance of up to 10 km, but in most of the cases, it will work at a shorter range like 3-5 km.
They can simply maneuver the boat toward a helicopter, achieve a lock, and start the missile - e'voila.

By the way, the early reports claimed that it was R-60 used there as well, which would work just same. Only locking range will be about half of R-73, and the cone of Komar seeker was +/- 12 deg, later improved.

Because that sorts the problem.
R-60 dead range is 300m, R-73 slightly more.
It won't arm itself and hit at closer range.
Staying closer than that keeps you safe anyway.

From what I can tell the agreement they are going for in Switzerland is something along the lines of Zelenskys wishlist where everyone talks about his "Russia must surrender" document and he hopes they will all agree it is reasonable so then he can make threats based on the whole world siding with Ukraine against Russia.

They can't achieve a victory on the battlefield where they could go directly to peace talks and say... "See... we are turning this around... surrender before it gets really bad for you (like it is for us now)."

Russia is of course going to say we already have more land than you are offering and we don't trust to with the the land you do control to treat the people with respect and to respect their rights. We are going to continue our rescue till western control of Kiev is gone and the people of what was called Ukraine have a real future without western interference.

They don't need to join the Russian Federation, but they are not joining the EU or HATO.

Any agreements they signed or debt they took on under the influence of the west will not be honoured by Russia or the new neutral state created by this conflict.

Estonia cannot understand why Russia is carrying out "threatening" nuclear exercises, says Estonian Prime Minister Kalass.

A few weeks earlier, the general promised to defeat the Russian armed forces and threatened to destroy Russia's infrastructure.

Ukrainians have adapted marine drones to carry air to air Soviet missiles.

That was in a video recently with Ka-29 helicopters shooting at drones on the water.

They actually said it made the drones easier to destroy because if you hit the missile then the fire it creates can destroy the drone.

Problem is however they plan to use the AAMs in the shore bombardment role Razz

I think the plan was to allow the drones to defend themselves from helicopters which seem to be rather good a destroying them.

The results so far seem to suggest the missiles catch fire and enable the destruction of the drone more easily than they allow the drone to defend itself.

Putin threatened: "The destiny of Russia will be determined by ourselves only."

Only a UK newspaper would think self determination for a country is a scary thing... they will wait till the US tells them how to respond before they come up with any reply though.

Others think it is just an extra amount of explosive if the kamikaze boat hits something.

I would guess they wanted to either use it against the helicopters being used to destroy the drones, or to make the Russians think the drones are defended and try to engage them from standoff distances.

Either way they found hitting the AAM destroyed the drone so either way it backfired.

Sounds like naval helicopters need a DIRCMS upgrade... using a few Mi-28NM or Ka-52Ms with cannon should be a good solution to dealing with these threats...
