Biden is being persuaded to sacrifice himself, by Pëtr Akopov for RiaNovosti. 06.29.2024.
Donald Trump is a vicious liar and Joe Biden is a good man and president, but he needs to step down. This conclusion was made by the American establishment based on the results of the debate, in this case through the mouth of Thomas Friedman from The New York Times. The incumbent president is asked to voluntarily refuse to run for a second term, appealing to his sense of duty: “If he does this, Americans will cheer Joe Biden every day for doing what Donald Trump would never do—putting country before himself.”
Simply put, Democrats are calling on Biden to sacrifice himself on the altar of the Fatherland - because otherwise he will lose and he will be ashamed in front of America . Which America? Well, of course, the freest country in the world, which leads the rest of humanity to light and happiness - after all, this is exactly how the globalists who govern it imagine the United States . So, in order for his country to continue to serve as a guiding light for the world, President Biden should step aside and let real America deal with Donald Trump on its own by fielding a strong candidate against him?
But excuse me, who then stands for Trump - the fake America? Wrong America? All sorts of cattle and scum? Russians? Fascists or Jews? It is not clear, but he is confidently heading towards victory, and after the debate on June 27 this became clear to most Biden supporters. That is, the situation is emergency - and something needs to be done before it’s too late.
It will be too late in mid-August, when the Democratic convention in Chicago endorses Biden as the presidential nominee. There is still more than a month and a half until August 19, and in that time the establishment can do something.
What exactly? To persuade Biden to drop out and find a replacement for him, and the first is inextricably linked to the second. Biden is not withdrawing from the election because he is clinging to power or being stubborn, but because he does not see a worthy replacement. He does not see anyone who could stop Trump.
Biden, like the majority of the American establishment, hates Trump - and his main task is to prevent Donald from returning to the White House. Biden was not going to be president - in 2016, he passed Clinton ahead and ran in 2020 only to throw Trump out of the Oval Office. And he succeeded - if not at the cost of falsifications, then at least the loss of confidence in the elections among a considerable part of voters. And now Trump enters the rematch in better shape than Biden - so what's Old Joe to do?
Leave? He would love to do it - but who will replace him against Trump? The fact of the matter is that Biden has become the uncontested Democratic candidate - not because he can defeat Trump, but because everyone else is even weaker. And this is a sign not of Trump’s strength, but of the weakness and crisis not even of the Democratic Party, but of the entire American political elite.
Because Trump is not part of it - and this is a huge part of his success. Ordinary Americans like his unsystematic, even anti-systemic nature - despite the fact that he behaves like a showman, they accept him as such. And systemic politicians, smooth and combed, cause rejection - they are seen as professional liars and inhabitants of the “Washington swamp”.
And against this background, Joe Biden is truly the best thing the establishment has. He clearly has the most international experience among current American politicians, is smart, has a sense of humor and, in principle, has no repulsive personal qualities. But he is old - and his increasingly evident infirmity is becoming the second rock that is dragging down his election campaign. The first stone is Americans' dislike for the establishment, of which the professional politician Biden is a part. Nor is Trump the billionaire.
Senile infirmity, of course, has not yet reached threatening proportions, but it will undoubtedly progress, and if Biden wins, he will remain in the White House until January 2029. And most importantly, the Republicans were able to make the president’s physical health a key issue in the election. And given the split in American society into two increasingly polarised camps, Biden’s health is becoming decisive for many undecided voters. Simply put, by demonstrating his infirmity in the debates, Biden has lost his last chance to win over the undecided voters — which means he is guaranteed to lose the election.
It is clear that the establishment is in a panic: in a second term, Trump will be much more experienced and angrier, and his attempts to "drain the Washington swamp," that is, to cleanse the deep state, could be much more successful. Especially if the Democrats also lose control of the Senate and do not regain the House of Representatives, and for now everything is heading in that direction - after all, the drowning President Biden is dragging the Democratic Party down with him.
But what can the establishment do under these conditions? It is already almost impossible to replace Biden with another candidate - to do this, you need to convince the president in the month and a half remaining before the congress that he will give way to a stronger candidate. Without this, Biden will not refuse the nomination - there is no need to create illusions about his state of mind, there is no insanity or dementia whatsoever.
But the problem is that the Democrats simply do not have a strong candidate to replace Biden - and everyone understands this. The options being discussed—several popular governors (most notably Gavin Newsom of California and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan ) and a couple of senators—do not hold up to the national level. Vice President Kamala Harris is frankly weak - and will lose to Trump even more than Biden. The dream of nominating the truly popular Michelle Obama is not coming true - the former first lady categorically refuses to be nominated.
That is, the Democrats are in a dead end, in a stalemate, if not in a zugswang - when each subsequent move only worsens the situation. Nominating a new candidate instead of Biden will also give Trump an excellent reason to say that the Democratic Party has completely failed - since it is forced to refuse to support the current president.
There is no way out of the impasse for the establishment — because this impasse did not just arise out of nowhere, but was the result of a long journey of the American elite. The only thing that can save the establishment — that is, stop Trump — is sudden death. And not only Trump (the murder option is still relevant), but also Biden — in this case, the nomination of a new candidate will become inevitable, and sympathy for the suddenly deceased head of state will add points to his successor and, perhaps, tip the scales in his favor.
Let's see whether the "hand of God" (or what will be passed off as it) will show itself in the current American elections.
