Both parties seem to have agreed not to publish the details of the Agreement. Possible reason is that one side had to make concessions it did not want made public. Anyway, now we have

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Damascus has been informed of the deal, agreed to it and the cessation of hostilities will be applied to the city of Aleppo for humanitarian purposes, the agency said, citing its sources informed with the situation.

Syrian Civil War: News #9 - Page 24 Empty Re: Syrian Civil War: News #9

    Post  Vann7 Sat Sep 10, 2016 7:21 pm

Russia is simply seeking to delay/freeze the conflict. there will be elections in November and there is some chance that Trump could get elected and reverse Obama/clinton honeymoon with
CAnnibals and kids headchoppers that Obama calls moderates.

Is not a good plan ,but is neither completely terrible ,if we take into account that if Russia delays enough the war , it will grind economically NATO and terrorist allies ,because of the cost in food ,munitions and military aid. This cease of fire allows Americans to "SAve face" by claiming cooperation with Russia and even retreat from the war with honors. If for example Russia directly accused Obama and Pentagon of arming Alqaeda and ISIS.. then that will not encourage them to retreat ,because the future of many generals and US gov officials will be very dark , if Syria manage to retake 100% of its territory. If Russia declares a no fly zone , it will have to stop fighting terrorist and focus on NATO.. and so on and on.

All this weak and shame full policies of Russia are consequences of their economic and political dependence on the American world ,that covers most G20 economies ,US and Europe, and most developed nations. allowing them to take control of Intenational laws , like United Nations, and the world economy, take control of the world banking system and internet.. etc.   So Russia is hostage of their lack of full independence. Russia needs to create an alternative to the American World , with China..and BRICS ,including many Latin American countries, including new world banking system ,new Internet ,new United Nations ,an alliance with all Asia , that is to counter the American world business and NATO and United Nations ,and only that way ,they will be able to show the middle finger on Americans whenever they want to aid any terrorist groups or overthrow any nation. But as long Russia remains dependent of the American world ,then they will need to play by NATO and United Nations rules.  If Russia had a strong economy ,and it energy business did not depend in Europe , and they had an alliance ,political and military of near a hundred of nations in Syria .. then it will be impossible for Americans or NATO to do anything there.  For now Russia is only seeking to delay things as much as possible in hopes
a new Leadership will emerge in America that will reverse Obama policies there.

If Clinton wins , then she will likely do things much worse for NATO ,because she could start in a direct war against Syria , justifying Russia to help Syria to block the Air space of Syria to them.
Russia being virtually alone in Syria trying to save them ,without the backup of a strong alliance is the major obstacle for them. Because it have to carry the economic burden almost alone of the fight. Also people should remember that the liberation of Aleppo will not stop the war , there is also Turkey ARmy inside northen Syria that will have to be removed and Israel too .

This goes back of Russia lack of leadership in the world ,that cannot convince anyone to join their side. COuntries will not like to be isolated by Americans and put under Sanctions. Even China depends on American world too. So Shows Russia since Putin came to power have been
greatly sabotaging its own future by not pushing to become a completely independent nation ,and created an independent alliance ,alternative to th American one. This all goes back to Russia allowing Americans to dominate all high tech business in the civilian world ,and steal the show.

If Russia could at least get some support from Former Soviet states and China in a decent force lets say 10,000 soldiers, and 50 planes, to deploy in Syria to "create humanitarian zones" with the full support of the Syrian Government and with endless ships supplies to Syria of "food and humanitarian help"  Very Happy  ,,with mysterious cargo entering in Syria day and night around the clock then it will signal NATO ,that there is no chance for them to disband Syria with Russia and China
deploying meaningful number of forces there.  That they will be facing another korean war ,that was a Disaster for them ,as soon they began to invade North Korea and attempted to disband it.

This is very important ,because in that war.. American ,Turkey, UK and many NATO forces also were present and were forced to retreat completely from North Korea by force. Major humiliation event for NATO on its history. and to have to deal with as similar force ,but now China and Russia very well armed with modern weapons and with IRAN help in a long war ,will definitively force them to retreat from the war and not even continue to try. They will simply move their terrorist elsewhere and pick another nation.. much farther from Russia borders.
something like Algeria or Venezuela .for example.

Major problem, that the wars continues.. is that the nations attacking Syria by proxy ,see an opportunity to get something from out of Syria and get away from it with International laws. but
if Russia had a strong alliance in Syria with many nations , then they will see a very costly war ,
of no chance to win anything. and will retreat to another place.

Once Americans notice ,they cannot damage Russia economy in Syria and they did in Afganistan to soviets, because their aid will be minimal ,and they have a strong coalition in Syria.. then American and NATO will retreat. Because there will be nothing to win..and they will seek a real peace deal ,to save face. as it was the peace treaty to end the Korean war... that it was signed with All the conditions demanded by China accepted but in similar ways. So Putin's Russia lack of leadership in the world, lack of having an alternative to NATO ,lack of Ambitions in the world,
wrongfully thinking ,that Americans will allow Russia to continue to grow as power ,as long they keep a low profile in the world ,in not competing with Americans world ,is the one to blame for the weak policies in Syria. That Russia depends on International public opinion in the west for avoiding being isolated in the world.

So again..Russia strategy is to freeze/delay the conflict as much as possible ,while helping
Syrian Army to hold their positions. If the Syrian army holds positions ,and terrorist lose the most casualties and terrorist advances are neutralized ,it will work. Because will force them to fight in the open. At the same time is interesting to notice how Big is Public Opinion growing
that United States is aiding terrorism . and that Russia needs to bomb the terrorist.

take a look at sputnik comments section of the "Cease of fire" that Russia agreed to do with
    US>.

The link below is a study is originally published by The Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center. It covers a complete overview of ISIS, though based in 2014.

    Major findings include:
Maximum western estimates of manpower of  30 000
Its structure is centralized hierarchical composing of
    ---The Advisory Council
    --- The military Council
    --- The Islamic council
Weaponry it uses are small arms captured from "moderate rebels" backed by the house of Saudi and heavy weapons are those captured from Iraqi and Syrian forces.

Excellent analysis from the US well worth the read. These are the concluding paras

This is Washington’s Plan B in the making, an old idea of ??the dismemberment of Syria theorized by many Western think-tanks like the Brookings Institute and RAND Corporation. The chances of the plan being realizing remains unknown. Plan A failed miserably: Assad is still in power, and it is only a matter of time before the SAA and its allies finish liberating the rest of the country.

It remains to be seen how Daesh will react to the threat of losing their so-called capital, Raqqa, in favour of the same forces (Turkey and United States) that created and helped them rise from nothing. If ISIS/ISIL should decide to fight and not abandon the city, it would be a first for the international coalition and the Turkish army, finding themselves embroiled in the Syrian quagmire like never before. How would the people of Turkey and America react to their soldiers and special forces being killed, imprisoned or tortured? Would Erdogan and Obama still be able to justify the operation to the broader public?

The silence and proportional protests coming from Moscow in light of the Turkish incursion in Syria confirms these suspicions: territories reconquered from Ankara are not strategic; the Turkish force is numerically limited (hence the objectives), and the ‘race’ to Raqqa would probably cause more damage than gain for Erdogan and Obama. Moreover, the Arab Syrian Army has other strategic priorities to address and does not want to make the necessary countermeasures to arrive first at Raqqa.

Obama and Erdogan's bluff is all summed up in the last lines. Erdogan and Obama, in the efforts to free Raqqa and penetrate further into Syrian territory, hope to oblige Syrian forces to alleviate pressure on terrorist groups elsewhere in the country, especially in Aleppo, diverting troops towards the city of Raqqa. What we have been seeing in recent days are empty statements of small conquests by Turkish troops in Syrian territory, aimed at pushing Damascus to fall into the trap prepared by Washington and Ankara.

The clock is ticking, and it is all in the favour of Moscow, Damascus and Tehran, who observe the situation with relative calm. Their planned strategy is providing most of the desired results, and now America and its allies have only the ability to react to events on the ground, not to determine or create them. Compared to a few years ago, this is a resounding change. If Erdogan and Obama still will want to start doing the dirty work in Raqqa against the same terrorist group they instigated against Damascus, then they are free to do so.

All options available for Washington and its partners-in-terror will have negative effects on the fateful goal to undermine Syria. Raqqa is a Syrian city, inhabited by Syrians, and even if Ankara liberated it, it is never going to be incorporated into an imaginary Turkish territory.

Strategic contortions, moral contradictions, media deception, and the recent military defeats of terrorist groups have transformed Syria into a recipe for disaster for Washington, Ankara, Doha and Riyadh, from which there is no way out or path to victory.

You did catch Kerry's speech saying this cease fire was the last chance for an Unified Syrian state. Sounded like he hoped it wouldn't work.

Yes I did. Could be bluster or a real threat. Mind you I am not sure how it could be enforced without Russia's agreement or WW3.

Wonder what actually happened. Middle of the night so no rogue video I suppose.

Syrian air defense troops shot down an Israeli warplane and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over the southwestern province of Quneitra, the Syrian army command said in a statement Tuesday.

"Our air defenses opened fire and shot down the [Israeli] combat aircraft and UAV west of the Sasa settlement," the command said. Israeli aircraft carried out an attack at 1 a.m. local time on the positions of the Syrian army in Quneitra, General Samir Suleiman, head of the Syrian Arab Army information department, told Sputnik. "Syrian air defense forces responded and shot down a F-16 fighter jet in the southwest of Quneitra, and an Israeli drone over the Damascus' suburb of Sa'sa," he said.

Earlier in the day the Syrian Armed Forces said in remarks published by state media that an Israeli warplane and an unmanned aerial vehicle were downed in the southwest Quneitra province in response to cross-border strikes. Israeli media reported that it was the fourth such strike in two weeks.

Israeli Armed Forces Deny Reports of Aircraft Losses in Syria Israeli aviation, however, did not incur losses during an overnight operation in Syria despite being attacked by surface-to-air missiles, an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) official said on Tuesday. "Tonight two surface-to-air missiles were launched from Syria after our aircraft attacked Syrian artillery positions. At none of the stages of the incident was the safety of the Israeli Air Force’s aircraft threatened," Maj. Arye Shalicar told RIA Novosti.

The Israel Air Force (IAF) attacked Syrian artillery positions in the Golan Heights in the early hours of Tuesday after the latest episode cross-border shelling that began over the weekend, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

There is one published video.. of the incident.. but is at night very dark ..and says nothing.
Shows only what seems to be a trail of a rocket and exploding but it doesn't show on what
neither any fire. It looks like a miss attack on something that no idea what it is. Syrian Perspective however says it have inside sources that claims they saw the plane crashing.
But again no pictures and no videos. What is clear however is that Israel Airforce was flying over Syria Border ,providing cover to Alqaeda advance and Syria air defenses launched Missiles at the plane.   The end result apparently was the terrorist assault was halted and Syria army is sending reinforcements to Golen heights border. S-200 missile was aparently used to target the invading plane. and accordingto Israel it missed.

Syria is now threatening Turkey airforce to shut down its plane its invade Syria airspace
without authorization or coordination.  so things are heating up for sure.  Russia marines also were attacked by rebels in Castello road during a life transmission to Russia army headquaters.. with no casualties apparently on their side. IS going to be a very long week.. for Russia ,Syria and IRAN.. because now is the time Terrorist will use to start major assaults knowing Syria and Russia will be only in defensive and not in the offense.

This guy has the power to make his words come true.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The crisis in Syria, including sectarian tensions, will require "a number of years" to resolve, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies on Wednesday.

"How you are going to address those issues is really challenging," Brennan told his Washington, DC audience. "We don’t have solutions that can be imposed, enforced upon the people. This is still going to take a number of years to come." The CIA director called the Syrian crisis "the most complicated issue" he has ever encountered, due to many "internal actors, external actors, the sectarian tensions, the problems that have beset that country for so long that were suppressed because of the authoritarian regime under [President] Bashar Assad."
