They can be distinguished by the chemtrail.Morpheus Eberhart wrote:What Vann is saying is that a 737 kamikaze missile and a 737 airliner are indistinguishable.

Bloody hell, science must have progressed a long way recently. That a chemtrail is different between a 737 carrying a few bombs and one carrying a few passengers is amazing and then to be able to detect it remotely. Wow, especially with recirculatory aircon minimising gases exiting the aircraft.whir wrote:They can be distinguished by the chemtrail.Morpheus Eberhart wrote:What Vann is saying is that a 737 kamikaze missile and a 737 airliner are indistinguishable.

You would think that, given their size, some of these buildings would warrant more than one bomb.

Yes, l I too feel the same when watching the strikes and the video of the jihadis after a strike. They should be dropping atleast two KAB-500 on such targets or much better four 250kg bombs so that it have a good spread and decimate terrorists in wider area. No terrorists should be left to escape.

So that makes a total of close to 2000 sorties and about 2500 targets hit (whatever the result is, it's till 2500 hits)... right?
With ~12 SU-25, as much SU-24, 4 or 8 SU-34 and 4 or 6 SU-30SM.... Maybe Mi-24 are accounted too... Pretty damn impressive, without a single accident or loss to ennemy fire or malfunction... Quite a result. Some would say it's nothing special, but it's still an achievement. Let's hope it continues this way. Ground crews are sure doing a fine job maintaining and polishing those airplanes. So far this russian operation demonstrated high professionalism even surpassing the level of some "westerns".

With the exception of the US, the other "westerns" cannot come even close to organising a similar campaign...even a coalition of several countries would struggle IMO

Russia also conducts the operation significantly cheaper than any Western power could.

CloudFlare is just an international cloud service. What does that have to do with anything? Oh I see, InfoWars.

What sort of condition is it in? Still an airbase, or just a paddock of rubble like Donetsk airport?

Well there was alot more prone to distruction at the Donetsk airport since it's a civilian airport. This was a military airbase with less infrastructure and it seems the runway is largely undamaged. The Guardian speculates that Kuweires might become a temporary air base for Russian assets. If the base is in a pretty decent condition (especially that runway) then I'd say the chances of the VKS using it are high.

The base is surrounded by miles of hostile territory, the facilites and hypothetical aircraft are exposed to artillery and rocket attack, and the long supply route goes through contested territory, and everything from fuel, spare parts to ordnance would take a rather long drive on vulnerable trucks.
Plenty of targets in proximity of safer air bases, and fuel is cheap.

Too close to tangos. Plus it can always be breached. Mi-24 could be based there, but only later on when there would br breathing room.

Russian Military Jets Hit 277 Terrorist Targets in Two Days
http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20151111/1029917988/russian-jets-hit-277-terrorist-targets.html
Russian military aircraft have carried out 85 sorties in two days, hitting 277 terrorist targets in the Syrian provinces of Aleppo, Damascus, Latakia, Hama, Homs and Idlib, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
“Over the past 48 hours planes from the Russian aviation group in Syria have completed 85 military sorties against 277 targets in the provinces of Aleppo, Damascus, Latakia, Hama, Homs, and Idlib,” Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told journalists.
The Syrian Armed Forces have broken an ISIL siege of the Kweiris airbase in the Aleppo province on Tuesday with the assistance of the Russian aviation, the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said Wednesday.
He added that data on the location of terrorist artillery positions and strongholds encirling the airbase had been received from representatives of the Syrian opposition and confirmed by the Information Center in Baghdad.
"As a result of the Russian aviation's actions, the Syrian government forces liberated the Kweiris military airbase in the province of Aleppo. This airbase had been encirled by ISIL terrorists for more than two years."
The Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed a major Nusra Front underground ammunition depot after receiving data on its location from the Syrian opposition, Konashenkov said.
"Near the village of Mahin in the province of Homs, a Su-34 bomber destroyed a major Nusra Front underground ammunition depot. Data on the location of this object had been received from the Syrian opposition."
After checking the information, the target was hit and completely destroyed by a BETAB-500 bunker buster bomb.
A Su-24M pinpoint destroyed a Nusra Front mortar battery in the Syrian province of Hama, Konashenkov said.

This is the rest of that Sputnik news item posted by Papadragon. The RuAF's impact seems to be growing as the effects of their 'strategic' bombing over the past five weeks kicks in. My highlight, note the increasing number of times 'data from the Syrian opposition' is being used. Expect that to grow significantly over the next few weeks (the words not necessarily the data!).
Pinpoint strikes carried out by Russian military aircraft over the past 48 hours have thwarted terrorists' plans to launch an offensive in Syria's Hama, the Russian general said. "According to data shared by the Syrian opposition and confirmed by the Syrian government forces' command, terrorists' plans to launch an offensive on the city of Hama from several directions have been thwarted thanks to Russian pinpoint strikes over the past 48 hours. This information was confimed by our unmanned aerial vehicles."
He added that terrorist groups instead of fighting attempt to errect deffensive barriers and lay minefields to stop the Syrian government troops.
Konashenkov said that the Syrian government troops had defeated 7 terrorist groups (900 militants in total) due to the Russian aviation's assistance. He added that local population in the province of Aleppo were supporting the Syrian Armed Forces. "Near the village of Tall Mamu fierce clashes erupted between local residents and Ahrar ash-Sham militants in which terrorists have suffered heavy losses."
Konashenkov said that Russia "managed to prevent the transfer of arms and ammunition to terrorists near Aleppo and Idlib." This allowed the Syrian government troops to defeat seven terrorist groups numbering up to 900 fighters, who lost their fighting capacity and fled the combat areas.
Moreover, the Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed an ISIL ammunition depot and four off-road vehicles of terrorists in the Damascus province. In the Homs province, Russian Su-24M aircraft destroyed three ISIL tanks and two infantry fighting vehicles, according to the spokesman.

The real big test in this conflict is when the Russian Aerospace starts to assist the Kurds in closing the remaining 90 kilometers between their forces along the Turkish border. This will cut off most of the ISIL supplies and fund raising through oil sales.
