The distinction is meaningless, the Su's were flying very high, in plain sight, so from ground or from air, this isn't the casual ManPad, it's a bigger AA system anyway, be that A2A or S2A. By doeing this the Turks just signed their crime. The MOD told the fate of the pilots is unknown.. they parachute in a zone full of terrorist..
So a hunt against them have to start by the terrorist as soon the ejected.. they could be behead
and killed and it will be Turkey to blame. Hopefully Russia have a plan to drop a missile over that bastard soon . And arm the kurds to the teeth.

arming PKK is only way for Putin to hurt Turkey with some deniability -> but two can play that game and I suspect things will be swept under the carpet by both sides from now on to relax things

Coincidentally, the only force in the region that has been helping Russia is none other than Israel. Russian warplanes have been operating along the Israeli border with Syria with no problems at all. Plus Israel is the only state that is not part of the Russian-Iranian-Iraqi-Syrian coalition that has been providing and sharing intel about ISIS and Al-Nusra.


Russia should also organize Turkey their own Chechnya with the Kurds.

Russian Helos are conducting a (C)SAR mission right now along the border.

CNN saying the plane wasn't in Turkish airspace when it got hit...this is an ambush plain and simple. The Turks shot the plane as a warning, i really hope the pilots are returned, if not, more bombing on the area, possibly cruise missiles, possibly standoff munitions well within Syrian Airspace, just GIVE. THEM. HELL.
