No, it was just a post with the picture. Those trucks seem to be all round Syria now with the Russian police operation spreading.franco wrote:JohninMK wrote:Love the size comparison
Was there a story with this?

A Russian warship in the Mediterranean Sea has fired a salvo of Kalibr cruise missiles at a group of jihadists stationed near the city of Deir ez-Zor in western Syria, the Russian military reported. The targeted militants were mainly from Russia and countries of the CIS.

Thanks for the confirmation, a cloaking failure captured by the camera.auslander wrote:JohninMK wrote:Strange image distortion.
Don't worry about that, everything is normal, you aren't seeing what you think you are seeing, probably the camera lens was dirty or maybe it had a flaw in it. Yeah, that's it, the camera lens had a flaw which gives the photo some silly shadows. Nothing to see here, move along now, just move along.
Those modern electronics... You could never rely on it!auslander wrote:Don't worry about that, everything is normal, you aren't seeing what you think you are seeing, probably the camera lens was dirty or maybe it had a flaw in it. JohninMK wrote:Thanks for those two posts Franco. It is becoming clear just how deep into the Russian military the 'training operation' in Syria is penetrating. This must be hugely valuable to their current leadership. This is experience that just cannot be emulated without an actual war. The actual cost in roubles must make this one of the best investments they have made over the past 10 years. The US decision start a process to overthrow Assad back in 2013 is looking increasingly disastrous on a whole multitude of fronts.

Toll could have been as bad, for serving soldiers at least, if they had just been training back home.PapaDragon wrote:slasher wrote:Read this article this morning: Most Russians Do Not Back Putin's Syria Operation As Death Toll Mounts

I am usually first one to be pissed off about Russians getting killed in Syria but using phrase ''Death Toll Mounts'' is horseshit.
Overall death toll has been slightly larger per year than among standard beat cops back home.
Would be even lower had SAA been more competent but they are at least getting some serious results finally.

I know we are getting on a bit but your eyes must be shot. Can't you see its a 4x4? That's a Niva in the fetching and fashionable 1980s beige colour.auslander wrote:JohninMK wrote: Thanks for the confirmation, a cloaking failure captured by the camera.
Desert does strange things to cameras and optics, it's a well known phenomenon. All I see is a late model Lada in the usual white colour. What did you see?
