It seems that, kind of officially (sputnik and rt) the main reason of the deployment is Deterrence. So maybe for Israel, Turkey or the USA (besides testings all the systems)

What's the purpose of A-50? To prevent Americans bombing the Russian air base?

You know how is the people here with the sources... it would be interesting to have more information from you about who payed the pictures, whith which purpose... it would be interesting to know if the source is reliable or can be fake picture... If you convince not to some people of the reliability of the source, you are strongly exposed to the insults of Papadragon, SeigSoloyvov, Isos, Kinopsis and alike...

I completely forgot that later hulls have engine covers installed (even though I posting pic of them here), my bad. So engines are more or less done but still it would be smart to keep true radar signature under wraps so they should put something shiny on them while in use.

It could be a prototype they are testing... it might have corner reflectors on it so other air traffic can see it and not fly into it... so the other Russian aircraft can operate with it safely.

It can test weapons and software and systems in an operational environment with little threat from real enemy forces...

That being said, could it be that MoD were intentionally bullshitting everyone when they were reporting progress of this project to the public? As in actually planning to deceive everyone years in advance?

And if they were happy to lie then why did we hear about two aircraft crashing from the Kuznetsov... they could have easily denied everything...

Its certainly a big possibility, and I'd like to think that would be SOP for all new Russian weapons programs. The more nasty surprises for the HATOstani bastards the better (and Syria has had plenty of them...)

At the end of the day the Su-57 is a weapon of war and lets face it... a war against NATO most likely... so this is an ideal way to test it relatively safely... anything learned can be applied to make the operational Su-57 better.

The same way testing other stuff in Syria has made it better and proven things, and found problems to be sorted out.

BTW, recall the USA drivel about how it could not show high resolution photographs in Ukraine for "security reasons".   Note the above photographs
of the Su-57.   They are vastly higher resolution than anything the USA put out regarding Ukraine.   This exposes the USA as liars on all
of their claims: from supposed howitzers which were actually harvesting combines to all the MH17 drivel.
