Pretty stupid escalation, whoever did it - Russia or Syria

It's not the way things are done, with direct attacks on NATO soldiers.

Turkish troops should simply have been left to understand, that there is nothing in Idlib left for them to do

Putin or whoever are far too sure of themselves. Whether this was meant as a de-escalation strike or whatever, it was misjudged, and now will lead to further conflict.

Assuming this video is real in the way it's being presented to which I cannot say it is or isn't at this time. Since time stamps and other things are blurred.

But let's assume it is real, Russia legit just let the turks go in and destroy their allies. That would be total weakness on Russia's part.

One problem is if this is all like yesterday's stuff, the drones would have had to been around for hours upon hours to get the footage.

    Well that's what happens

Only way to not 'just let' now is to escelate further.

Turks directly fire manpads at sukhoi and use their artillery directly. They probably target zone where spetznaz operates. What did they think would happen ?

Turkey is a small country. They can't play with a country that is armed with 5000 nuks, has a immune economy to sanctions and produce state of art weapons. If Erdogan keep thinking he is a new sultan of an empire that doesn't exist he will destroy Turkey.

That's simple to understand. Turkey can't win against Russia.

Article 5 does not apply if you attack a UN member state from your home soil using long range  munitions. It only applies if you get attacked by an aggressor regardless if the attack is on your home soil or not. NATO was created for peace, not for war. NATO prevented WW3 and the deaths of billions.

Let them fly. Pantsirs, Buks M2, Pechora 2M easily knock down slow poke prop planes. EU sanctioned Turkey. They can't make any more.

They deployed it in Libyan airport too , today libyan army shelled his rockets over the HAWK radars and destoryed them , putting the AD systems in the range of your enemy rocket launchers and without controlling the sky is a stupid act of war Exclamation

I don't think they wish to be there. Even the soldiers send in northern Cyprus don't really like to be send there. They have no choice. Either go wgere Erdogan send them or ho to jail with the others.

I remembered the first SEAD against HAWK batteries was done by Egyptian airforces in 70s using MIG-17 against israel's AD systems .

To be honest, Russia should have armed drones like the huge Iranian Shahed 129 which wrecked ISIS in eastern Syria and Nusra in Aleppo. Too bad Russia don't. It would definitely make anti terror ops much easier. Currently the unarmed drones only lase.

Bayrakthar no stealth slow poke prop plane bombing the crap out of Tiger force at Saraqib today. Syrians are severely lacking in AD. Even LNA wouldn't have Bayrakthar flying around in broad daylight.

Syrian su24 can be armed with kh-25P anti radar missile and destroy them easily. No need for kh-31 like suggested in another post.

The ECM pods of su-34 should reduce their engagement range to 10km if not less. Syrian mig29 also have Talisman ECM pods now. But that's not needed since kh-25P outranges the MIM-23.

What ridiculous logic displayed. The Turks are the ones guilty of escalating the conflict, are we forgetting how much they financed Chechen and Dagastani jihadists through the Pankisi gorge? What about Libya? Surely it's the Russian MOD's fault for why the Turks are sending troops and military support to the jihadists in Libya against everyone's wishes. What about the recent escalation of Northern Cyprus with their illegal oil exploration? Just accept that no amount of diplomacy can make a crocodile accept a vegetarian diet FFS! Rolling Eyes

If you believe the Turks they killed at least 50.000 syrian soldiers in the last week alone. Razz

In the meantime Erdogan and his head-chopper friends lost control over 30+ villages in the south of Idlib. The military victories of the Turks are only surpassed by the victories of Germany in WWII, like Stalingrad, Kursk and so on.

Yes! All videos are a "best of" the last weeks. Only hard shelling tonight occured in kurdish area north of Aleppo, but SAA is also mixed in this area with kurdish units. So maybe SAA was hit last night, but not in Idlib!!!
