Re: Syrian War: News #21
Syria just declared IDLIB no fly zone for Turkey. Since they used some kind of SAM to shoot Syria SU24. I think one version of SU24 is updated EW version. Should track Turk medium or long range SAM frequency and jam it. And send HARM to take it out. Or send coordinates to SRBM of Iranian made Fateh 110, that Syria fired to kill SAM.Do Su24 carry HARM?

Re: Syrian War: News #21
apparently the Su-24 was shot down via Turkey shooting an Aim-120C7 but the AWAC aircraft guided it. As the plane shot from within Turkish airspace and never entered Syrian airspace.
Dunno how true that is. I dont think the AWACS can guide the missiles but I may be wrong.

If so the AWACS plane is a legittimare target, even if it is in Turkey... and that costs much more than a dronemiketheterrible wrote:apparently the Su-24 was shot down via Turkey shooting an Aim-120C7 but the AWAC aircraft guided it. It's the russian EW teams that will be happy .
Most of what turkish write on twitter is bullshit. Don't believe them. F-16 should have problem tracking a su24 at max range.

Thats why it was tracked by the AWAC. Apparently it was far so the F-16 couldn't track the plane but the F-16's were used to launch the AIM-120's. So they were shooting in the dark, it was the AWACS.

Yes must target the source that open fire. So planes shooting are legitimate for long range AA missiles. Iran makes the long range AA phoenix. May even have adapted this to fit Russian Mig. Russia can provide own long range. If SAM used. Then SAM site a target. Best taken out with Ballistic missiles. Shut them up quickly.

Agree. They don't hesitate firing on su-24 not knowing if it was russian or syrian.
Russian crews are in danger and they should fire r-77-1 at f16 firing missiles and r-37 at awacs helping them.
I don't understand why russian are such pussies. Turkey is small player compare to them. They shouldn't be afraid of shooting them down. Even SAA destroyed one f-4 back in 2011.

Can the radar of the russian s400 in Latakia provide target info to guide missiles launched by russian airplanes?nomadski wrote:

Re: Syrian War: News #21
Russian command and control link is different. While it will work for russian jets, it wont work for Syrian.
Also, it all depends on how far the AWCAS was. Its all hard to determine to be frank.
But I agree, if Turkey is shooting at jets within Turkish airspace and not identifying them, it brings a problem to Russia that should force Russia to respond by firing at these planes. Already Russia had flown to intercept F-16's attempting to enter Syrian airspace. So now Turkey is just.....Turkey shooting from Turkish airspace.

Re: Syrian War: News #21
There must be some kind of agreement or tolerance from SAA, Russia and Iran towards Turkey. SAA is not hitting the outposts deep inside SAA territory and is not on the way to take turkish soldiers as hostage...but this would be normal. And SAA is not striking any turkish positions. SAA is hit hard from publicity point, because a drone strike creates more pr, than a normal attack. And what makes me wonder...Turkey is not attacking with tanks, only artillery and drone strikes. It's a bit treacherous against SAA soldiers now dying, but maybe in the long term genius, because Turkey is now unmasked. Something weird is going on in Idlib, that is sure! During daytime I was convinced SAA will lost in a few weeks Damaskus, but now it could be Turkeys Vietnam, if things are going well. HTS and Turkish Militia lost complete the momentum of war!
What gets on my nerves are the turkish fanboys climbing from one orgasm to another! This nationalism is similar to nationalism in WW1. So to a low percentage the conflict is not controlable anymore or will break ot later again. Some hits to Turkish Army would be nice, to ground turkish fanboys.

Re: Syrian War: News #21
This is a general problem not just affecting aircraft. In the same way that an F-16 can launch long range missiles, both AAM and ASM, at targets deep in Syria, so also can Turkey's barrel/tube or missile artillery fire munitions far into Syria and have been doing it.
Strictly speaking this is Turkey defacto declaring war on Syria. As a consequence Syria has the right to return fire, particularly at the offending assets. NATO Article 5 doesn't come into it as Turkey started it. That Syria doesn't is an indication that they really don't want to provoke Erdogan into having to declare proper war on Syria, which he would have to do to save face.
The problem for Turkey is what would happen should they, intentionally (unlikely) or accidentally, hit a Russian asset publicly as opposed to somewhere in the fog of a battlefield. OPSEC started out quite tight on both sides but now seems, to an extent, to have fallen apart.

He is a supporter of HTS obviously. And I consider it the same since they are not there legally and killing soldiers defending their state. Its murder one way or another.

These refugees were created by Erdogan after he gave in to Obongos orders and let his country been used as staging point for the wests salafist foreign legion. If he wants no more refugees he should stop helping Al-Kaida.
