Interestingly a reduction or stop in gas supply will close the Ukrainian pipeline.
So a side effect will be a huge loss in revenue for Kiev. Another unintended consequence perhaps?

Smokescreen. Instead of Deutsche Bank buying Rubles from VEB or VTB bank and german companies then using the Rubles from Deutsche to pay for gas the Euros are flowing into the german branch of Gazprombank, which "converts" them into Rubles and pays the gas. Result is the same.

Either way will increase demand for rubles and raise the value of the ruble. I also bet they will stop gas sales in dollars totally. And that was like a third of payments.

The Euros are still not getting the Russian plan. Idiots. A couple weeks ago the Russian government ordered Russian companies to make payments of their loans denominated in Euros or Dollars to numbered accounts denominated in Rubles. This decreased the amount of Euros and Dollars those companies need to hold. Then they forced importers and exporters to convert 80% of their foreign currency accounts to Rubles. And now they will be forcing the Europeans to pay gas in Rubles. They will allow the Europeans to convert Euros into Rubles. For now. But eventually they will convert less and less Euros into Rubles and force them to recycle Russian Ruble denominated debt into gas payments.
Russia will manage to convert their Euro, Pound, and a large part of their Dollar denominated private debts into Rubles magically. And these idiots still haven't figured it out.

The Yamal pipeline has not been supplied since the Polaks did not sign a long term deal with Gazprom. Gazprom
chose not to participate at transit auctions. So all this news about Yamal transiting no gas from Russia are not
relevant to the current situation.
The pipelines to watch are the ones through the Baltic, Ukraine and Black Sea.
