Every 100 years or so, the west gathers on Russia's border to take on Russia and only to have it ass handed to them.

Looks like it's been 100 or so years since that has happened.

Root cause of today's events is Obama. Weakest US president in 50+ years. Completely dependent on globalists who created chaos worldwide like Arab Spring, Libya, Syria, ISIS, Ukraine. Only reason Obama became President over a war hero like McCain was uncontrolled wokeism.

The most unfortunate take-away of today's event could be a further strengthening of G2. US cuts a deal with China, concentrates on (a frankly easier) challenge in Europe. China gets to lord over Asia till the next time.

I can't say I'm particularly comfortable with the scale of this operation. Part of me was hoping they'd send peace keepers to DPR and LPR, serve the Ukrainians an ultimatum to back up to the province borders, and call it even.

I can't say I'm fully behind what's happening, but am willing to see where this goes, and am sincerely hoping the civilian population has been well considered by the Russian strategic planners.

I saw plenty of other links to that video claiming it was Ukrainian. We'll have to wait and see.

Welcome! The Ukraine military has been in a terrible state for many years now - much like the Russians were back in the 90's but just worse. Too early to tell but I think they have very little capability to engage and defend against the Russian strikes. Any major Russian losses claimed by the Ukranka fascists are most likely pure propaganda.

3) Commander-in-Chief of Ukrainian Armed Forces:at 5.00 AM the armed forces of the Russian Federation launched an intensive shelling of our units on east, delivered missile/bomb strikes on airfields in Boryspil, Ozerne, Kulbakino, Chuhuiv, Kramatorsk, Chornobaivka, as well as on military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine gave orders to inflict the maximum losses to the aggressor.

4) The people's militia of the Lugansk People's Republic has said that they shot down two Ukrainian Su-24 fighter jets in the area of the settlements of Smeloe and Stepovoe

Russia would have had these sanctions leveled against it for some false flag like the Skripals or Navalny anyway. So there is nothing to lose for going big.

Well, they had more than enough to both invest and train it's forces since 2015.

The problem is, that you really don't get, what the Ukraine is.

I totally agree, I guess i did not understand the level of corruption. Somehow I expected not only the investments and training programs by NATO but also 8 years of active combat operations to have more impact on competence. I guess it was not spent on the IADS.
