Yeah pilots survived, two helmets dumped beside the wreck. They are most likely busy doing SERE. Or captured. Remember helis never operate on their own. Always in pairs or more. I would not wanna be the one approaching the heli to "arrest" the pilots.

The wingman will cover their retreat indeed, and radio'd for extraction.

Since you have experience so i might as well ask, wouldn't the second Ka-52 attempt to destroy the fallen Ka-52?

And I bet there are quite a few VDV boys itching for a mission just a few clicks away. In the earlier videos with the Mi-8s shooting flares you could see them being escorted by Ka-52s. I wonder if this is a series of events.

Depend where it fell. Maybe they want to take it back. Actually they will take back Ukraine and the hardware they lost to repair all of them.
Ka-52 can't carry troops so it couldn't help the pilot. Only bomb the enemy aproaching but that's it.
One way to lose a few braincells is to read the tweets in response to that video of the two Ukrainian MiG-29s. Ill informed crap, I.e people thinking they are su-35s and saying there’s 100 US F35s in Europe.

Because Twitter isn't a real source. Some interesting videos and pics, but besides that....

Twitter is a cesspool, I generally try to find relevant videos/photos/links and avoid the comments all together

They first will consider salvaging, its not like the Ukies are going to fly or haul it away soon. If the russian battle-line is close, salvage is more likely.
Also, Helicopter weapons have not the general destructive power for proper destruction of hardware like this. Cannon and AT missile may not be enough destroy avionic's. In afghanistan mistakes where made like that, where Taliban managed to salvage avionic computer and data carriers from the wrecks even after an hellfire hit.
If destruction is chosen, an fixed wing aircraft with an heavy guided bomb will come to do the job.
Right now of course, the primary task is to monitor the surroundings of the extracting pilots for threats, and that itself does not become an casualty.
Its what we did in Afghanistan.

Indeed, best just to view the vids and ignore the comments although even some of the vids and pics cannot be verified. As always, take with a big pinch of salt.
As for Russian MiG29s, they’ve got some at Lipetsk and older ones at Erebuni but otherwise the western and Southern MD IAPs mostly have Su-35s and 30SMs. Both types currently deployed in Belarus with the 35s being from the Eastern MD. obviously I don’t know what units the Russians are actually using right now.
This is the mighty force that will stop supposedly Russia.
‘We don’t have any plans or intentions of deploying NATO troops to Ukraine’ – Stoltenberg
It is important to remember , how the west ,was in discussion to kick turkey out of NATO , when erdogan order the shooting down of a soviet russian bomber targeting isis fighters.. Europe was afraid that a major war was going to start between russia and turkey and they did not wanted to fight russia either. Erdogan was told by NATO "you are on your own " .When it looks as if a war was going to happen between them . US and UK the last thing wants is to have hands tied and being forced to fight a war they know they can't win. and neither show betrayal to an ally and do nothing when Russia fight backs them.
This is why joining NATO means nothing..is a paper alliance and nothing else . Its ultimate purpose is for US and UK to use as a meat shield other countries.. to fight russia to the last ukrainian ,to the last polish and last fighter in baltics. the west will never start a direct war on a nuclear super power like Russia ,that can wipe their entire countries in a few hours . .. specially because NATO knows they have been for decades provoking Russia into a fight ,and threatening their security and interest.
.

They won't deploy mig-29 there. They lack some datalinks to work properly with the rest of the air force planes.
Be careful about the videos. Some are from years ago and remember that both use same hardware, or should I say hardware that looks similar.

That’s the thing, close-ups are needed to differentiate the paintwork on these so they can be ID’d as Russian or Ukr.
I wouldn’t have expected Russian 29s to do much at all/anything on account of there being so few, I wasn’t aware of the datalink issue. Only MiG involvement I can imagine is 31Ks and I’ve seen no evidence yet.

Putin made it clear that any NATzO reaction will be met with military force. Johnson should stop posturing and evaluate the costs of his posturing.

It appears that resistance to the Russian "invasion" is pathetically weak. There are substantial defections. This is not unexpected since the ground "invasion" is into heavily pro-Russian regions.
