Urban war must be done on foot. With support from the drones. Tanks aren't needed. Maybe send those bmp-t behind the troop. But first reenforce the protection with add ons.
Going building to building and room to room just doesn't work, you'll take insane casualties
They figured that out back in WW2
if you want to take cities, you have a few choices
- level enemy strongpoints, buildings with self-propelled guns, artillery, air power. But the economic damage and civilian casualties in this case is huge, and probably not a good look when you don't have media dominance
- assault enemy strong points and buildings with tanks and infantry; shooting out floors in preparation for infantry to advance up them. In place of tanks you can probably use shmel type rockets in a pinch. Effective, but still a lot of damage, and you'll take considerable casualties
- take a methodical approach, strip away layers of defense, recon out enemy strong points, employ snipers, tank sniping, small squads to advance step by step while laying down suppression fire. You'll take casualties anyway, and it'll take more time. Civilians are more safe this way, but the risk is they could run out of water over the time such an op takes
- use drones creatively like what i theorised on before
Right now Mariupol is mostly of the methodical variety, albeit with artillery and other fire support against isolated Nazi strongppints and encircled troops
