They secure it by mapping ukrainian positions and using artillery on them before advancing.
On paper it's 3km. In real life the operator will run awy from artillery when he knows he is ukrainian and facing Russia. He knows even if he manage a hit he will be dead. At least by runing away he can be either captured and alive.

Don't worry, because Russia has never been a British colony, so I think Russia and the Russians know what they are doing.

The terrain is very marshy around Northern Donets, especially east of Slavyansk, so the northern spearhead will probably advance much faster than the eastern one after Aleksandrovka, and they'll converge only on the very outskirts of the city.

Looks like the Azovites have at least dozens, possibly hundreds of civilians there in the dungeons underneath Azovstal, and they're not going to respond to the offer to let them out

SOBR should be used with NVG and small drones to map put the fortress and plan a storm
At least main forces can be redirected to Guliaipolye
And continue to press the southern 2 VSU brigades into the cauldron, VKS should hammer the brigades if they break west, don't let them slip out to zaporizhia
Drive them north east, and seal them in the Donetsk tomb

Russia has used Orlan UAVs to target a few military facilities/assets and for some other facilities/assets they have used Mi-28 and Ka-52 helos.
