    Prof Zenkus
    @anthonyzenkus
BREAKING: Zelensky asks for $7 billion a month in aid.

    Oh hell fvcking no.

    ...................

The black hole is now coming in the form of increasing extortion from Zelensky and his gang: Not long ago he was asking for 5 billion a month.
The account grows non-stop. Let's see where this ends up.

But one thing I'm sure: a good part of that money will not reach the tip. Many came out rich with him.

Gotta love that upgrade to the BMP-1. Great fairly cheap way to make the ifv more effective since the hull is basicly (as far as I am aware) unchanged.

Cheap battlefield taxi. Same firepower as the BTR-82A. Maybe they could add some extra protection in a second upgrade.

Something like a mix of spaced and plate armor.

Any somewhat meaningfull upgrade in armor will screw up the buoyancy and likely remove amphibious capability completely, while also reducing overall mobility. They could add cheap RPG screens but are they really that effective?
Better to upgrade more BMP-2 with Berezhok and more BMP-3 with new sights.

Exactly. People don't understand that Medvedev is more hard liner than Putin and probably more effective leader overall. There is an overfixation with Putin but truth is, although Putin succeeded in low hanging fruits and although he is a very decent character, never exceeded expectations.

Funny how the general opinion about him is exactly the opposite.
Including the Ossetian perspective, where they openly (a president of SO) claim that Dima's inability to make decisions cost lives and delayed the operation by 24h.
The question in being is, if he was restricted with decision making by the Putin, or his own character - but the fact remains.
On another occasion, he was typed on a meeting with Obama, whispering that "everything will be provided to the boss, and he will make a decision", so that speaks much for itself.

Don't think they would uparmor it though. High mobility and ability to ford rivers seems more important to Russian IFVs and APCs. They also do have some heavier armored vehicles for if they need them such as the Terminator and the Armata T15

Changing just the turret probably makes this upgrade more affordable and interesting for foreign BMP-1 operators.

Therefore under worst conditions , hostilities will bring about a situation , where access to ports or water resources are curtailed . In these conditions then , the only remaining solution becomes war again . However by being strategic in our thinking , no side , by resorting to war , has easy route to exterminate the other . The Ukrainians can not ( easily ) build Dams , without Russians approval , since Russians are next to River . And Russians can not ( easily ) stop trade by Ukraine , through Odessa , since they are far away from it .

I am afraid the buoyancy bit is only relevant to marines as we can see that this is not needed today. This is why Kurganets-25 need addons to be properly amphibious (swimming comes as a bonus, not priority)

But you are totally right about mobility. Not to mention maintenance.

Russia reveals sunken warship’s crew losses

During struggle for the ship's survivability, one soldier died and another 27 crew went missing, the Ministry of Defense has said

Not bad, sad for sailor, but at least all the crew except 1 survived.

    Very good result

“In the course of the struggle for the ship's damage, one serviceman was killed, another 27 crew members were missing. The remaining 396 crew members were evacuated from the cruiser to the ships of the Black Sea Fleet in the area and taken to Sevastopol," the ministry said.

What do they mean missing? They would have been listed KIA if dead no?

Each of the volunteers completed a full training course at the Russian University of Special Forces in Gudermes. Professional instructors taught them the basics of martial arts.

Dear BROTHERS - the Chairman of the Parliament of the Chechen Republic Magomed Daudov @MDaudov_95 and the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic Ruslan Alkhanov saw off the glorious journey. We wish good luck to our glorious warriors and glorious victories! AKHMAT-POWER!"

That's a minimum. I would say it's far better to take all the key oblasts that have any strategic and economic value. This will help the Novorussia, while depriving Ukraine of key industries making them suffer and require life support from EU, UK, USA for decades making this costly for them as a form of punishment. Odessa, and Transnistria is a done deal question is will Gagauzia follow Transnistria? I think it might.
