Zelensky calls for meeting with Putin 'to end the war'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday called again for a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in an effort to "put an end to the war".

I think that whoever started this war will be able to end it," he told a news conference at a metro station in the heart of the Ukrainian capital.

He was "not afraid to meet" Putin if it would lead to a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, he added.

From the beginning, I have insisted on talks with the Russian president," said Zelensky.

"It's not that I want (to meet him), it's that I have to meet him so as to settle this conflict by diplomatic means.

"We have confidence in our partners, but we have no confidence in Russia," he added.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Kyiv Sunday, the day the Russian invasion of Ukraine enters its third month, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin would also visit, he told reporters. It will be the first official visit by US government officials since the February 24 invasion.

A US State Department official declined to comment.

Seeking deal for Mariupol soldiers

Zelensky denounced plans by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to visit Moscow on Tuesday, before Kyiv.

"It is simply wrong to go first to Russia and then to Ukraine," he said. "There is no justice and no logic in this order."

Zelensky repeated his warning that they would break off talks if Russia killed the remaining Ukrainian soldiers in the besieged Black Sea port of Mariupol.

"If our men are killed in Mariupol and if these pseudo-referendums are organised in the (southern) region of Kherson, then Ukraine will withdraw from any negotiation process," he said.

He was ready to exchange Ukraine's soldiers defending the city "in whatever format" to save "these people who find themselves in a horrible situation, surrounded".

Ukrainian officials earlier Saturday accused Russia of thwarting a fresh attempt to evacuate civilians from Mariupol

Zelensky said that "today is one of the hardest days" since the start of the Russian siege of the city at the beginning of March.

It occurs to me that Zelensky's war strategy is a mirror of the West's geopolitical one at the moment

Zelensky ordered a total war, scorched earth, mass mobilization, and is sending even foreign volunteer mercs in as cannon fodder with no training straight to the frontlines, just to hold the Russians off longer. He ordered the Azovites to not give up in Mariupol at any cost and continue to hold out in their bunkers, presumably he doesn't want the morale blow from their surrender. To the Donbass his strategy has been to continue sending tens of thousands of reserves, even going against the advice of American generals from 2-3 weeks ago by now, about the need to withdraw and establish new defensive lines around Dnepro and Zaporozhie.

It's all in. And you either win, or you lose everything. But the only thing you can win from these tactics is time. Zelensky evidently has been counting on Russia making concessions after a few weeks or the West bringing it to its knees. Now the Azovites from the bunker have been calling for evacuation to a third country and waiting the war out there if necessary. By this they mean Turkey. But here Russia's answer has been no too it seems, as now the Turks are talking about blocking Russian flights to Syria.

The West's strategy to save their hegemony is the same. They went for financial shock & awe against Russia, and flooding the Ukraine with weapons of every kind and all the merc cannon fodder they can muster. They tried to bully every country on the planet to cut ties with Russia. They even enacted regime change in Pakistan. The latest incident was at the G20 where they tried to exclude Russia, but Indonesia and the others said no - and the G7 states were the ones who put out a joint-statement, not any of the others.
All these moves have been countered. And the West has played every card short of introducing their own NATO armies officially onto Ukrainian territory.

And what now for Zelensky and the West? Keep digging?

Yes indeed the story of how nationalism was promoted in the Ukraine is a long one and extends a lot further back than 2014

Already by 2014 there was a large outpost of nationalists in Dnepropetrovsk, and crucially, Kharkov. This is what enabled the Maidan coupists to win out in this traditionally Russian-identity city after a month of mass street fights and rallies between one side and the other.

Since 2014 Dnepropetrovsk is now run by a war criminal as mayor, Kharkov became an absolute nationalist stronghold, and Mariupol became a Russian and Ukrainian Azov Nazi outpost and on the way to becoming a stronghold too, with active indoctrination of the young into Neo-nazism, and recruitment of locals into Azov too. Still, this city was never broken and this is evident now, by the words of civilians and what they have to say about Zelensky, Azov and all the rest of them.

It's not Mariupol, but central Rubizhne.

Given the location of the vehicle, it probably means most Ukrainian resistance been defeated and/or has fallen back towards Severodonetsk, as it's well inside the town and past the northern district of large apartment buildings (which they usually use for cover and firing positions).

Rest of the town mostly consists of small houses.

High-precision air-based missiles of the Russian Aerospace Forces hit 9 Ukrainian military facilities.

Including 1 command post of AFU brigade, 4 strong points and places of concentration of manpower and military equipment, as well as 4 missile and artillery weapons depots near Barvenkovo, Novaya Dmitrovka and Ivanovka in Kharkov Region.

Operational-tactical and army aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces hit 26 military assets of Ukraine. Among them: 1 battalion's command and observation post, as well as 25 areas of Ukrainian manpower and military equipment concentration. Up to 150 nationalists, as well as more than 40 armoured vehicles and cars, were destroyed.

Missile troops and artillery carried out 423 firing missions. Destroyed: 26 command posts, 367 strong points and areas of manpower and military equipment concentration, as well as 25 artillery batteries positions. 4 missile and artillery weapons and ammunition depots near Gusarovka and Velikaya Kamyshevaha were destroyed.

Russian air defence means destroyed 10 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Barvinok, Vasilievka, Krasnogorovka, Kremennaya, Novyi Pervomaisk, Poltavka, Tomarino, Fedorovka and Yasinovatoe.

In total, 141 aircraft and 110 helicopters, 551 unmanned aerial vehicles, 264 anti-aircraft missile systems, 2,496 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 282 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,093 field artillery and mortars, as well as 2,343 units of special military vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed during the operation.

Is it just me or my location of Neuland that most Odysee videos look highly pixelated?

Am I correct to assume that Russia has yet to fully commence the operation? I've seen some Russian progress, but I think Russia is still assembling forces for this stage of the operation.

If Kadyrov was the Russian president, none of this would have happened because the CIA and MI6 would have run their psychological profiles on him and realized (unlike Putin) that he is far too dangerous to play games of brinkmanship. Russia is no virtue signaling empty of values shell that the West is. We don't need to show off "multikulti" or tolerance just for the sake of appearing to be civilized.

Like I have mentioned before, Kadyrov is not the same kalibr (pun intended) as Putin. He would be far easier to lure into traps to act immediately. Without the proper administration and calm and logical heads like Lavrov he would do worse.

Anyways, who will be next is not known to anyone for us and I really hope someone who is fit and does act only and exclusively in the interest of Russia and Russian citiziens and not a puppet or week clown.
