In Vietnam, the US military suffered extremely high casualties...
Even Ukrainian conscripts have better survivability than US soldiers in the jungles of Vietnam....
The US Army radio operator's life expectancy was just 5 seconds.....  It was a literal suicide mission for many US combatants..... Just think about it before ever comparing this SMO with the Vietnam War.

Don't forget the "Collateral Damage" caused by indiscriminate carpet bombing. More civilians were killed during that war than actual combatants - a great number of those due to the US bombing campaign.

Soviet losses in Afghan where smaller yes, but they killed much less then we did and they didn't have to contend with jungle warframe, so different situations there.
