Actually if there is no oil or shells on the path, apfsds will just make a small hole and go through the vehicle.
It doesn't ignite anything. It's just a big bullet.
Even if the vehicle is quite light whatever it hits will be vaporised and thus there will be cloud of plasma created. This is why they wear anti flash clothing quite often in vehicles.
