Liberating Donetsk, Lugansk, are main objective number 1. Number 2 will be Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporozhye. Number 3, Nikolaev, Odessa, link up with Transnistria and Gaugazhia, Number 4 Sumy and chernihiv, Number 5 Dnipro and Poltava, number 6 will be anything else Russia see fit for taking. The big question is in what order this will happen. Only thing that's certain is Donbass will be taken, and obviously Kherson Zaporozhye needs to be taken before Nikolaev and Odessa can be taken. I think another certainty will be Kharkiv, Zaporozhye(nuclear power plant needs to be safe from danger) and Odessa (cutting access to Black sea, and link up to Transnistria and Gaugazhia is key) I think Russia sees these as key objectives. But this is my opinion others will have their own.

The way to Kramatorsk should then be open, but it's possible that Russia will just move on Kharkov

It may be open but Russia will probably continue with their current strategy, slow moves with maximum Ukie deaths.

Any move that could 'PR scare' NATO into doing something stupid will likely be avoided. Softly, softly catchee monkee, as the old saying goes.

The only thing missing for a complete collection is the F-16.
    Paticence.  Very Happy
On the other hand it will be difficult to put a downed plane together again.
Maybe some special forces unit will have to raid an airfield to get hold of one.  lol1

I would not be surprised to see a couple of defectors - esp if they see their fellow comrades going down in flames.

    @Seig Heil

"Die hard" is a very apt description I must say Laughing

If you know you're booked on a one way ticket to hell some of them might just reconsider the choice between LIFE and CERTAIN DEATH.

If you like to be a dead "hero" then so be it - but living the life with your loved ones and friends doesn't sound too bad after all. Wink

Oh these silly comments are funny. Personal attacks and emotional retorts, really the best you got?. Comedy show honestly

First off they will not just be able to get into the aircraft and take off whenever they want, they will not have communication with russian commanders, AD will blow the dam thing out of the sky the second it gets close enough, second pilot selection is not like a tank its a much more through and complicated scope out process.

There is virtually no chance any of the F16 pilots will be landing in russian airfields period.

There is also a dozen more reasons why this will not happen, if you looked at the situation logically rather then through your rose tinted glasses you'd know that

Defections amount aircraft pilots even when the situation is hopeless is extremely rare and thats just for any aircraft now add in the whole f-16 part and not just anyone will be allowed to fly them.

Yeah it's technically in the sense possible hence why I said 99 out of 100.

It was very good for its time... could deal with MBTs and do recco or ambushes.

However, with drones around, no armor and big ammo inside it would be total suicide to stay in such vehicle on the front. One hit in the ammo and goes to the moon.

I hate to agree with you on this, but yeah there won't be F-16s landing in one piece on Russian air fields because as you said, those that are piloted by inexperienced Ukrainian crews taking off from poorly maintained and bombed out Ukrainian airfields will have a very short shelf life.  If Russian military aviation isn't cratering all paved Ukrainian military and civilian airports and air forces a general or four need to be dismissed.

Second, I strongly suspect that a lot of F-16 Pilots will take off from air fields in NATO territories.  The crocodile tears and "moral outrage" that Russia attacked the air bases they took off from and the demands for boots on the ground due to Article V are ready made.

Third, the Ukes are being given less than 50 F-16s.  Knock down 5 to 10 and the rest are withdrawn because damn a broken Seanpennwaffe is very bad for the MIC

The strongest bias is an opinion, that they have a pool of pilots to pitch the cherries.
One must been blown away from reality by a mile.
But hey, it is a SS - in a better days and more brilliant alter ego, he is capable to flush a toilet, al; by his own!
Hurray, let us all wave a flag of respect to the handicaped!

They have lost all of trained & skilled pilots a while ago.
An interim solution was to remobilize folks well into 60s.
Some of the obituaries of "sokoly" were calling folks closing 70 Shocked
They will pick every single one who has two legs, and two arms, and saw a plane once.
Soon, it will be some fukin' paraglider presented as an ace.

Gotta laugh at all this talk of Article 5 and NATO coming together as one to attack Russia. If they had the balls to do it they would've done so a long, long time ago, but even the most deluded, mentally ill psychopaths in Washington, London or Brussels aren't suicidal. None of these people believe a word of what they say about their strength or Russia's weakness otherwise they'd be on the frontlines fighting Russia themselves instead of using one hapless proxy (Ukraine) after another (Georgia) after another (Chechnya) after another (Afghan Mujahideen) after another (Third Reich).

I mostly agree with you. Lets face it, if this thing was about defending Ukrainian "democracy" and saving lives, they would have accepted Putin's very generous peace in April 2022 and the continent would be settling into a very shaky peace. No, this thing is all about the benjamins. The MIC oligarchs and the politicians they buy with kickbacks are making bank off the blood money (overwhelmingly Ukrainian) generated from what is by and large a civil war.

What scares me is that greed can cloud the mind. Considering how foggy Joe the Bidet's mind is, I could see him stumbling into wwiii.

Yet another US development that they either didn't see an actual threat for or it didn't generate enough profit (likely given the comment from SARA below).

US to transfer modified JDAM bombs to Ukraine - The War Zone

The Pentagon has signed a $23.5m contract with SARA to buy sensors for detecting electronic jamming and install them on JDAM-ERs. Some of the kits, along with the bombs, are expected to be delivered to Kiev.

The contract amounted to $23.5 million. Under the terms of the contract, at least part of the kits will go to Ukraine. The quantity of ammunition and the terms of its delivery were not disclosed.

    http://t.me/ukraine_watch

    The Warzone comment

The U.S. Air Force is buying add-on seekers designed to give Joint Direct Attack Munition-Extended Range (JDAM-ER) precision-guided bombs supplied to Ukraine the ability to zero in on GPS jammers. In effect, this would turn one of the weapons most impacted by this countermeasure into one used to directly attack it. This follows growing reports that Russian jamming is severely degrading the effectiveness of Western-supplied GPS-guided munitions, including JDAM-ERs.

The Pentagon announced today that the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) had awarded Cypress, California-headquartered Scientific Applications and Research Associates Inc. a contract valued at $23,554,341 for "the acquisition of Home-on GPS Jam seekers" and the "integration of the extended range seekers into existing Joint Direct Attack Munition wing kits."

"This contract involves Foreign Military Sales to Ukraine," the Pentagon's announcement also noted.

    .................................................

Details about the seeker system itself are limited, but Scientific Applications and Research Associates Inc. (SARA) has been developing capabilities like this for integration onto various precision-guided munitions for years now.

"Should an enemy strive to complicate the battlefield by stray or competitive RF energy, SARA’s HOJ subsystems can enable a host guided bomb or missile to engage it as the system or operator might prefer," according to a brochure the company put out circa 2018. "HOJ is compact and 1/10th the production cost of prior-generation systems. HOJ uses solid state components and a common munition interface which provides rapid, low-cost integration."

"On the precision-guided munition side, the US Air Force Research Laboratory at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, is studying a kind of seeker that directs bombs to detect and destroy GPS jammers, called home-on-GPS jam, or HOG-J.

Last year, the lab awarded Scientific Applications & Research Associates of Cypress, California, a $9.8 million contract to integrate the seeker into the JDAM and Small Diameter Bomb Increment I (SDB-I) weapons and demonstrate it in flight tests. The work, at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, is expected to be completed by late 2016."

Home on jamming is like 60's tech. Soviets had it and so did US.  Home on jamming GPS is just similar concept.
