Now it seems to be done by hand welding.  I don't know if there was   some kind a agreement with the Americans that took out the machinery to do so or  perhaps due to dissolution of Soviet Union supply chains for supporting such capability withered away and never replaced.
I don't know.   But it's just sad to see.
You're right. Automatic welding line was scrapped during the 90's and sold as scrap metal. Also, UVZ had 6 lines for tank production and now has almost 2.
Omsktransmash also doesn't produce new tanks, it is only doing T-80s upgrades to BVM standard, even if they're now talking about possibility of restoring full production.

An easy measure to take for Putin to retaliate is to start taking out the govt in Kiev.

Is there any way for Moskva to use nuke without dramatically escalate the tension ?

Yes. By detonation of the nuke on air to generate EMP shock. A 500kt nuke detonated 50km above ground will generate minimal destruction on the ground and also minimal harmful radiation. But the EMP effect can disable or damage the electronic devices within a radius of hundred of kilometers. Results: complete blackout, disruption of communication and transportation at large scale. And it took a lot of time to restore such damages.

However the humanitarian and material losses of Ukraine will still be very huge, especially when winter is coming. Meanwhile, it does not generate much direct effect on Kiev armed forces. It is a also a huge humanitarian crisis.

You have to understand that humanitarian issue is also a concern raised by Russia about the situation in Ukraine when Moskva is doing the SVO. If Moskva use nuke, it will lead to humanitarian crisis, and Russian SVO will lost all righteousness. Only USA is profitable.

Using nuke in Ukraine, no matter in what form, is a dangerous precedence. Because it means that there will be no guarantee to prevent a nuke country from nuking a non-nuke opponent. Which also mean other countries will actively engage in nuke race (or at least dirty bomb race) as a mean of self preservation. Therefore no country, including Russia, want nuke to be used in Ukraine. Even in the Cold War people also managed to turn back timely when they are near the brink of a nuclear war.

Yeah, that sounds something fools like Putin and Lavrov would do. Absorb hits, take humiliation and wait for the mortal enemy to stop hitting Russia by placing their hopes in an unpredictable character like Trump.

And what if their hopes prove to be wrong and Trump continues Biden's policies against Russia? Then what?

I would also enact an export ban on LNG from Russia to the West until they drop the sanctions on Arctic LNG 2. For whatever reason they seem to think Russia "needs" their funny fiat money. I would just flare the gas if it came to it and make the world's largest light show.

Really weak response to hitting Russian territories with missiles. Banning sales?

Ideas of proportional / escalating responses must be understood within very specific environment variables . Or we will be talking nonsense . Between doing nothing and WW3 , there are fifty shades of grey . E.g. : Against a weak foe , a proportional response , might mean genocide ! Against an enemy with nothing to loose , escalating responses will not lead to peace !

One or three ATACMS landing in Bryansk or Rostov won't do JACK to the current trajectory of the SMO. There is absolutely no need to overreact to such meaningless assaults to Russia which are equally as unpopular in the West as they are in Russia itself.

How foolish would it have been if WW3 was declared in response to the Kerch bridge being blown up back in 2022? Right when Western support was at it highest ebb.

Now that Russia inflicted this truly unpopular war upon Western populations and economies, people in the West especially in the USA are definitely not wanting WW3 for the most corrupt state in Europe and with a nanofuhrer well outside his expiration date. Therefore there will be soon a point when some well aimed Iskanders or 77N6s aimed either at Rheinmetall compounds or at some of NATO's LEO constellation (bar Starlink) can be achieved and then proceed to stare down NATO's response. Will Germans mourn the loss of the warmongering industry? Will the US risk losing a great part of its observation assets in space for a meaningless conflict with Russia while China laughs its way to the bank? Are they willing risking WW3 for a fledging Ukraine playing Nazi Vergeltungswaffen tactics? My guess is a big NO.

Russian troops captured the centre of Chasov Yar, by Dmitry Zubarev for VZGLYAD. 11.20.2024.

Russian Armed Forces Break Through Ukrainian Defences in Chasovy Yar and Take City Centre.

Russian troops advanced 1.5 km in Chasovy Yar, occupying the city centre, which became possible thanks to the successful assault actions of the last day.

Russian troops have broken through the defences of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Chasovy Yar of the Donetsk People's Republic and have established a foothold in the central part of the city, TASS reports .

Military expert Andrey Marochko noted that over the past 24 hours, the Russian Armed Forces have advanced 1.5 km, breaking through the enemy's defensive lines. Russian troops are currently occupying positions in the area of administrative buildings in the city centre.

Marochko emphasized that while fixing in the city centre, Russian units are conducting flanking maneuvers, enveloping the enemy from the flanks in the northern and southern parts of the settlement. With these actions, the Russian forces are trying to strengthen their positions and create conditions for further advancement.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces command is trying to stabilize the situation in Chasovy Yar, but is faced with a shortage of soldiers, weapons and military equipment.

As the Vzglyad newspaper wrote, Russian armed forces successfully advanced in the area of Chasov Yar, which disrupted the supply of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The real funny joke is that when Russia started the SMO - after years of atrocities and indiscriminate shelling on Russian speaking civilians - NATzo cried like an innocent baby, calling Putin's war a "deliberate and unprovoked attack".

This whole SMO episode tells me that the Russian bear in fact has a red line marked in the sand. The bear will take quite a lot of poking but eventually it will tear you apart. Good luck with that Nazi scum! Laughing

Also Garry I require some insight on forum rules. I know forum rules say this isn't allowed but you have allowed this nutcase on more then one occasion to promote genocide use racists terms etc

he rewrote my name to include the word Nigger, which is a racist remark. I don't care that he did it, I just got to know are there no rules now? what's the operating procedure here?.

I can't tell what someone might find to be offensive and who might not.

The rules are stated in the Rules section of the forum and if you are offended by something someone said rather than reply in kind you are supposed to contact a mod and make a complaint. That mod will then look at it and deal with it based on the rules and the situation.

Supporting genocide is not against the rules otherwise there would be no posters from western countries allowed... they didn't just talk about it, they did it and wrote the book.

So your argument is because if Russian enemies provided the weapons its wrong.

The argument is that Kiev cannot operate these weapons without HATO direct assistance and recon support, so if it is OK for Kiev to attack Russia with these weapons with HATO assistance then it is also OK for Russian troops to assist Cuba to launch Russian nuclear missiles against targets inside US territory .

To use these weapons US assistance is required no matter where their targets are, which means the US is taking direct action in this conflict on the side fighting Russia, which makes US targets in the region and everywhere else legitimate targets does it not?

The USSR provided weapons to countries that fought the US in the past was it wrong then? we also in the past supplied arms to countries to strike at USSR forces

The USSR provided weapons to countries the US and others had invaded or occupied and those weapons were used against military targets that were not in the US of A, but in the countries the USSR was supporting.... Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, etc etc etc.

There were soviet weapons made in the USSR given to factions to strike at US forces.

US forces illegally in other countries like Syria and Iraq and Afghanistan etc etc etc.

The day Russia stops using foreign-made weapons in Ukraine, THEN they can demand and not seem childish.

The question is who is a party to the conflict.. I agree with you... I think Russia should have been attacking HATO countries supporting Kiev from day one because they are essentially the supply and recon arm of the nazis in Kiev. But the west pretends that despite funding and supplying weapons and ammo and "advisors" that they are not a party to this conflict.

Putin has said these long range weapons require US codes and US information for targeting... things that the Kiev regime can't do on its own.

Launching these weapons requires US active support which means they are part of the war and are now legitimate targets... the recent change in Russian laws regarding the Russian use of nuclear weapons makes it clear if Russia is fighting a proxy force that does not have nuclear weapons but is supported by one or more nuclear power then the use of nuclear weapons is allowed by Russia if they see the need to use them.

First official reaction from Moscow to the ATACMS missile strike on Bryansk region. Lavrov commented on the situation at a press conference during the G20 summit. Russia is firmly committed to the position of preventing nuclear war."

They launched 6 super uber weapons and caused a small fire that was put out... perhaps by your salty tears.

They have stepped on the mine and there was no explosion but is it on a timer or do they have to take their foot off before it will explode?

The line has been crossed and now Putin can do as he pleases up to and including nuclear weapons use.

What I think is actually most likely is that the plans to stop at Russian territory will be changed and the buffer zone will now be 350km and the war will continue much longer and there will be no peace talks while long range weapons are being used by the enemy.

If long range weapons are to allow negotiations from a position of strength then no negotiations makes that meaningless.

They don't give a **** about your nuclear doctrines Lavrov. You'll have to do something more substantive.

The fuckwits in charge of the west wont understand, but the people with brains understand that Putin and Russias hands are no longer tied and if they want to... they can strike anything they like with anything up to and including nuclear weapons.

So you guys expect Russia to go full nuclear because ONE ATCMS got through

It didn't even get through... it was damaged and landed inside the boundary fence of something and started a fire...

Also, don't run your mouth unless you intend to back it up with action.

The response is going to be carefully crafted to suit the crime... nobody died and a fire was started.... so obviously nuke Brussels during an EU meeting with everyone present... and most of the EU will probably thank Russia for that.

But as caveat emptor said, how many get through and what they strike is not really the point

And that is what is so great about it... they crossed the line and now Russia no longer has to worry about escalation... they can do as they please...

It can be their reason for stopping all sales of Uranium and Nickel and Titanium to the US or the West... export production can be reduced by the amount of those materials the US has been buying over the last few years so other countries can't just buy what the US needs and sell it on with a markup.

Russia is not being given a choice. If nothing is done sooner or later you'll have Tomahawks brought in per Zelensky's 'victory plan' and all Russian territory and major cities can come under attack.

Russian air defence is orders of magnitude better than any HATO country... including the US... how about we wait to see what Putins actual response is?

This is also why retaliation has to be against western countries and not Ukraine.

They are probably aware of HATO bases in Ukraine, including CIA bases and SOF bases, and indeed the US embassy which is essentially probably running the war and the Ukraine government...

Equally there are assets in the Ukraine owned now by Blackrock and other western companies... start destroying those and you will see their level of interest in this conflict fade dramatically.

But most of all, Russia just doesn't have 2 months to wait when under attack.

Well how about we wait and see what Putin actually does... it is amazing how much he doesn't do if you listen to some on this forum, yet he still seems to come out on top.

According to my understanding retaliatory measures will be covential hit inside Ukraine territory and probaply proxy actions somewhere.

I disagree... Putin clearly said that long range weapons in Ukrainian possession can't be used without the direct actions of US trained personel, which means the use of these weapons required direct action by US forces... which makes the US party to the conflict and therefore THE ENEMY.

The changes to their nuclear doctrine also spell out that while the use of nuclear weapons is not allowed against a proxy force that does not have nukes, it becomes possible to use nukes against a proxy side that is supported by a nuclear armed country... which is exactly what we have here...

It does not make nuclear weapon use mandatory, but they become an option if required... if deemed useful.

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Good joke Very Happy

    Why not?

If Kiev attacks Russia with ATACMS missiles and it is determined there is a large stockpile of more such weapons in Poland in a warehouse then using a Zircon or Kinzhal or Kh-32 missile to destroy the warehouse with a conventional warhead would be a legitimate attack.

Now the potential enemy is becoming more convinced that we will never use it under any circumstances.

Really? Because the first claim was that Kiev could use long range weapons anywhere in Russia... and then all of a sudden they could only use it in the Kursk region against North Korean troops... why did they change that?

The point is that the West is less and less afraid, if at all, of Russian strategic nuclear weapons.

Yeah, the mouse is not afraid as it climbs on to the mousetrap to reach that lump of cheese just sitting there... but guess what... when that trap deploys and that little mouse head is crushed in the metal jaw mechanism who gives a **** what he is thinking?

And no Samson option got triggered, article V would go the same way

The fun part about HATO is that while each side is obliged to help other parties that are attacked by an outside power, that help can take many forms including verbal like Kiev is getting now from HATO.

If Russia destroys a HIMARS or ATACMS filled warehouse in Poland with a conventionally armed Zircon or Iskander or Kinzhal or Kh-32... is HATO going to invade Russia?

Russia won't even lift a finger towards NATO, let alone attack with 200 ballistic missiles.

If they can show that is where the ATACMS are coming from then it would be self defence.

And ? He has been drawing red lines and NATO consistently called him out.

No he hasn't. The only red line was Kievs entry to HATO and HATO has not even come close to crossing that red line.

All the other so called red lines are made up.... from modern MBTs and Javelins and ATACMS and HIMARS and F-16s... all the Russians said about those was their introduction would only prolong the war and make the Ukraine suffer more... which is true.

Goddammit don't they understand this isn't Ukraine vs Russia. But NATO vs Russia with Ukrainians being the tool to Bludgeon Russia to death ? This is do or die. Because death is what's coming.

Maybe take a chill pill and understand that Russia has not responded yet because the response was always going to be based on what happened and what happened in that first attack was **** all. The next attack might be a bit more serious or they might all get shot down too and its response will be more but they need to work out what happened because where the weapons came from might determine who gets attacked.

    Poland or Romania?

what areas are the Russian MiC having trouble coping with supplying Russian forces?

Now they can buy from the North Koreans and Chinese and Iranians then, or indeed they can spend some Rupees and buy from India.

Thus far nothing that isn't that critical. But to come especially with NATO emboldened and supplying longer range missiles ?

So you just assume Russia will do nothing... the problem isn't Russia, the problem is the internet warriors who want instant revenge instead of planned calculated justice... that doesn't just feel good but damages Kievs ability to keep fighting.

Don't get me wrong the Russians are still fighting this war like its 1800 and there is some gentlemen code and that's punishing them hard and well deserved, if they want to fight the war like this, they get the repercussions of it

Another failure of the west... they haven't yet managed to turn them into colonial racist cunts like the leadership of the west are.

If Trump continues the same old shit? We'll be a lot closer to the find out part than we have been in decades.

If Trump turns out to be the same or even worse then Pandoras box has already been opened and Putins hands are now free... the US of ATACMS has made Kiev Americas proxy force and America, being a nuclear armed power makes everything up to the use of nuclear weapons on its proxy and other allies legitimate and legal under Russian law.

I don't care that you're bdid but the rules are the rules and if Garry won't enforce em might as well just let everything bea Free for all.

I haven't been asked to do anything yet, I have had no complaints by PM.

The personal attacks appear to be headed in every direction in equal portions, no matter who started it, most seem to continue it, and no one has been so offended that they have notified me directly.

Lots of waffle about to be moved to the off topic ukrainian war thread in the general discussion section....

And Russia waited three years to destroy this plant that provides ammunition to ukrainian military next to its border for what reason?

Because now they have no president based on their constitution, and they are running out of men and the electrical and heating grid is seriously damaged and they are retreating on the front line and winter is coming and so is Trump, and the west is running out of money... now is a good time to hit them in a lot of places.

Wait till they think they are safe and hit them hard and you do a lot more damage.

All the retards, concerned trolls, and cage apes seem to gather - did I miss a triumphant khokhol parade in Moscow or something? scratch

At the time when our doom team is busy in an orgy of their kind, pesky Russkie are grinding the khokhols all way long.
They have just secured Novaya Ilyinka which is north of Kurakhovo, where a dam leading to the center is located.
Chasov Yar seems to welcome Russkie in the center.
    Kupyansk awaits its liberators.
And the things starting to warm up at Gulaypole area.

More whining and dooming, because you are not funny enough at the moment.
Putin must nuke the Washington D.C, at least!

When it comes to tank welding there are numerous Russian companies that make semi automated and automated submerged arc welding machines like the ones used in the Soviet Union.

They have to supply something and they have run out of everything else.

The US decision to supply anti-personnel mines to Ukraine is another violation of the balance of power in the world, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus stated.

They also commented on granting Kiev the right to strike deep into Russia with long-range American weapons, calling it an irresponsible political decision.

More whining and dooming, because you are not funny enough at the moment.
The only reason the gave the official green light for such attacks is distraction from the situation on
the ground. The media was talking about losing so the politicians had to do something.

Moscow has found a nuclear response to Western strike threats, by Victoria Nikiforova for RiaNovosti. 11.20.2024.

The UN has made an original statement about Biden's long-range strikes against Russia. In theory, an organization whose officially stated goal is the peaceful development of all countries should at least try to hold the old man accountable. Explain to him that he just kicked humanity towards nuclear destruction with his bony little leg. Offer some other options. Intervene.

However, the UN Secretary General's office limited itself to calling for the protection of civilians - and that was it.

Of course, this statement sounds like pure mockery. Civilians died under similar calls in Serbia and Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan. And the Americans and their proxies did not just not care about the fate of civilians. The murders of civilians were committed absolutely deliberately - with the aim of intimidating, pressuring, terrorising. To break the system of governance and subjugate the broken state.

Of course, Russian citizens have no illusions about UN officials who sit in New York, are fed by Uncle Sam, wear expensive suits and don't give a damn about people's lives. But this is no reason to meet the amazing statements from the Secretary General's office with silence.

In fact, our silence is what our enemies want from us most of all. They are trying to muzzle Russia, to deny it the right to speak out. Sit down and keep your head down - that is the main message of Western propaganda. But if we do not speak out about the state of affairs, how will the world know the truth?
Therefore, I would like to honestly tell the UN officials, as well as numerous so-called human rights activists and other patented Western humanists: your hypocrisy is disgusting. You know very well that there is no need to call on the Russian side to do anything - we are already fighting in white gloves, our fighters are risking their lives to protect the Ukrainian civilian population.

But Zelensky's regime has long been worse than a monkey with a grenade. Kyiv understands perfectly well that Russian military targets have long been reliably protected, they only want terror. They will strike precisely at civilians.

We have already been through this in Sevastopol, and in Donetsk, and in Belgorod. Our land, our people have already been hit with all this long-range crap. Where were the Western humanists then? How did a child's tear respond to them?

Russians do not need any protection from the UN. Thank God, we are not Iraq or Afghanistan. Our air defense will protect us perfectly. The people on the ground and the infrastructure are prepared for all possible scenarios. We fully trust our military, during the SVO they have proven that we are behind them, as if behind a stone wall.

However, the UN Secretary General's office should be concerned about Biden's frantic desire to drag the entire world to the grave with him. It is clear that he wants to play a dirty trick on Trump before leaving, and age-related cognitive distortions are growing every day. But the old man has stepped so high up the escalation ladder that even the Europeans, accustomed to everything, have gone into hysterics and started to drag him down.

The situation with permission to strike Russia looks more serious than the Cuban Missile Crisis. Especially since this time it will not be possible to present the Ukrainians as a human shield. The American military sets the flight missions for American missiles, and American satellites provide all the information for them. President Putin clearly explained that all this would mean NATO entering the war against Russia. Our response will arrive at the appropriate address.

In such a difficult situation, to put it mildly, shouldn't the UN be the main peacekeeper? The risks for all of humanity are completely obvious. But no, instead of trying to somehow sort out the most serious military crisis since World War II, we hear only some vague statements.

Moscow tirelessly conveys its position to the West, it is absolutely transparent. We will perceive American, English, and French missile strikes on our land as direct aggression by NATO countries. The response will be appropriate.

In connection with the above-mentioned threats, President Putin signed yesterday an updated doctrine of nuclear deterrence. The country, which has the largest and most advanced nuclear arsenal in the world, will be able to protect its citizens from all threats, including non-nuclear ones.

According to the new concept, nuclear deterrence can be applied to non-nuclear countries if they attack in tandem with nuclear powers. Nuclear weapons can also be used to respond to aggression using conventional weapons if it threatens our sovereignty. Nuclear deterrence will be applied when ecologically dangerous objects are threatened - it is clear that this refers to nuclear power plants. Will our enemies use non-nuclear weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical or bacteriological weapons? A nuclear response may also be envisaged here.

But what about long-range missile strikes on Russian territory? Do they fall under the conditions of nuclear deterrence? According to the Russian president's press secretary, this is precisely the case. "Yes, this is being discussed," Dmitry Peskov noted dryly.

The new doctrine lists the full range of threats that Western countries, led by the United States, are presenting to us today, hiding behind the backs of Ukrainians. Putin spoke about this concept back in September – then, as we see, the Westerners did not get it. Well, now they can read it at their leisure, discuss it with their military, maybe at least they will explain to the politicians who have lost their minds what awaits them.

    You're in denial

Trump has assumed radio silence over the past 36 hours; in reality this is all part of the 'Trump plan' proposed earlier about European forces being stationed in the Ukraine instead of NATO and a freeze of the conflict. I don't know if the plan is really Trump's doing, or it's just being floated by the establishment neo-cons in his name; but he of course has been informed about it and hasn't spoken out against it.
So really this is just the 'good cop, bad cop' routine in all effect.

And being that this is so you shouldn't count on Trump dropping long-range missile strikes when he assumes the presidency. He'll drop them.. if he receives an act of good-will from Moscow first. Such as agree to a ceasefire.

But even all that aside, Russia just doesn't have that long to wait. It's red-lines have been crossed and it's will to deter aggressors is being directly challenged. Failure to enforce it will have serious consequences both short-term and long-term; short-term being the introduction of missiles with longer ranges into the Ukraine, the expansion of the range of targets, and Trump's willingness to use these strikes as a bargaining chip.. even if we suppose that it wasn't his idea to do so initially.
Public opinion and confidence in the country's leadership is also going to sour the longer this goes on.

Escalation is best served slowly and painfully. Russia may have stayed away of the West's business, but their hostility forced them to go their own way instead of trying to find a place in the existing model, then they moved to a confrontational posture and now with the work on the BRICS financial structures and their backing of non aligned actors in every world theater including the Western hemisphere, they go simply for the jugular and will not respect any sphere of influence nor spare the West from falling into outright bankruptcy. At any step of this process it is best to leave ample space for additional measures, managed according to Russia's own timing, in order to create a bigger long term effect, means, a faster degradation of the West's resource basis and less options for them to escape financial meltdown by means of a major world conflict.

In that regard, I will not speculate on how they can respond to the ongoing aggression, since there are enough painful ways of doing this. But it would be indeed much better to identify the individuals behind this particular decision and make sure they will not enjoy a happy retirement, than to derail any possibility to have a less confrontational relationship with the next US administration, which is exactly the goal that the outgoing administration is seeking.

The share of forcibly mobilized soldiers in the Ukrainian army is 75%. This is reported by the Bloomberg agency , citing sources from the republic's Ministry of Defense.

"About a quarter of the men and women fighting on the front lines were volunteers, while the rest were conscripts," the agency notes.

It is alleged that many men in Ukraine have been injured or detained while trying to cross the border. Many men may not leave their apartments for weeks to avoid conscription.

The day before, the leader of the “Arise, France” party, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, condemned the forced mobilization of Ukrainians into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

On May 18, 2024, a law on tightening mobilization in Ukraine came into force. According to the innovations, persons included in the register of military personnel will lose the right to travel abroad, use their funds, drive a car, carry out real estate transactions and issue documents - a passport and a foreign passport.

Earlier in Kiev, relatives of mobilized men staged a protest at the military registration and enlistment office.

Don't think that Trump will change anything. I know how it will go down.

Some half-assed "peace talks" will happen, they will fail (NATO will tell Ukraine to reject any major concessions), Republicans will offer Trump border wall/anti-illegal immigration measures in exchange for continued assistance to Ukraine. Trump will begrudgingly agree to this and claim he wanted peace but Zelensky and Putin were too stubborn and unwilling to compromise. Trump will move on and focus on domestic affairs...

The war in Ukraine will continue to be a slog/war of attrition with neither side getting a breakthrough.
