Pfizer’s and Moderna’s offerings seem to be getting a much easier ride in the press than other Covid-19 vaccines available. Could this possibly be because they’re the only for-profit jabs on the market?

A safety group from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently said that there’s a “likely association" between myocarditis, a rare inflammatory condition of the heart, for young adults and adolescents after receiving their second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna Covid-19 vaccines. The fact that the media is largely brushing this aside and countries aren’t pulling them pending a safety review, like they did with the Johnson & Johnson or AstraZeneca vaccines, shows an innate bias towards for-profit medicine.

There have been instances like this before with the mRNA vaccines. Whereas blood clotting concerns have been the impetus for some countries to pull the Johnson & Johnson or AstraZeneca vaccines until a safety review could be undertaken, a study by Oxford University published on April 15 suggests that these complications actually have a higher incidence with the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

According to the study, the risk of portal vein thrombosis (a blood clot in the liver) appears to be 30 times higher with the mRNA vaccines made by Moderna and Pfizer than with AstraZeneca’s. As well, the risk of cerebral vein thrombosis (a blood clot in the brain) appears to be quite similar with both AstraZeneca (five in a million) and those mRNA vaccines (four in a million).

This was pretty much ignored in the media and there’s been no public outrage about this. It begs the question in both of these cases, why? There could be many reasons but I think two reasons immediately come to mind that are obviously interlinked.

First, the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are the only two for-profit vaccines on the market. The already-massive drug company Pfizer raked in $900 million in the first quarter of this year. Big Pharma is a massive lobby in Washington and is also a huge patron of the news media, so it’s no wonder everyone’s hushing up about any potential dangers from these vaccines.

There’s simply too much at stake for the US and its ultra-wealthy ruling class to make a fuss about these particular vaccines even though they did the same thing with other vaccines that are being sold not-for-profit.

Second, these vaccines, Pfizer in particular, are the cornerstone of the US-led global vaccination effort that has now pledged 1 billion doses to poor countries. If it were the case that these vaccines were pulled, countries might lose faith in them, pull them and then the US would lose some of the soft power it’s looking for through these donations.

The US wants to use these vaccines to expand its global influence and prove that “democracy” (neoliberal capitalism) is the best socioeconomic system to spur innovation and provide basic necessities for people, which is clearly doomed to fail since the severity of the Covid-19 pandemic was driven by this system in the first place.

Put simply, the US wants to pull a “come-from-behind” victory on the pandemic and prove that its brand of for-profit medicine can address a global health emergency even though putting profits ahead of people is exactly why millions of people, including over 600,000 Americans, died from Covid-19. At the same time, Moderna and Pfizer are more than happy to lap up profits paid for mainly by Johnny Taxpayer.

To be perfectly clear, I am not advocating against taking mRNA vaccines. These vaccines are shown to be highly effective against transmission, hospitalization and death, so of course you should take them. Any potential risks are far outweighed by potential complications from actually catching Covid-19, especially as more virulent variants, like the Delta or Gamma variants, become predominant in many parts of the world.

This is no doubt a solid reason why public health experts are not in an uproar about potential dangers from the mRNA vaccines, since they’re the most widely available in the United States and many other countries. This is especially true if you live in a country like the US, where now virtually every Covid-19 death is preventable with vaccination. With governments unlikely to reinstate social distancing measures when variant-driven cases swing up, getting inoculated is crucial to protecting your health.

However, what I’m trying to say here is that when these arguments are only used to defend for-profit companies’ products, and thus help them profit even more, it reeks of corruption. This corruption becomes even more obvious when media outlets glorify Big Pharma, only to rediscover their critical faculties when they write about vaccines developed in countries like China, Russia, Iran or Cuba, as well as not-for-profit Western-developed vaccines like AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson.

The fact is that the best vaccine is the one you have access to, therefore no vaccine should be getting biased coverage or attention from media outlets or government officials.

On the front it says sugar free, but on the ingredients list the first three ingredients are sugar... there is sugar and sucrose and glucose, which are the top three ingredients by weight and also three types of sugar.

In their wisdom the American regulators accepted the arguments of big business that if a product contains less than 1 teaspoon of sugar per serving then it was OK to describe it and sell it as sugar free.

The recommended serving for tic tacs is one tic tac... you can't fit 1 teaspoon of sugar in a single tictac... it is physically too small... but despite being almost 100% sugar it can be sold legally in the US and elsewhere as sugar free.

The US government is more interested in profits for companies than the health and well being of their people.

This is reflected in drugs and in other aspects too... their subs don't sink, but millions die from diabetes or getting shot because they are all chemical time bombs.

You definitely take your life in your hands, taking prescribed drugs.

Working as a nurse, I saw many persons have allergic drug reactions to prescribed drugs, and have had a few myself.

One of the worst allergic drug reactions I ever had was to generic Fosamax, given to prevent osteoporosis.

I literally had an anaphylaxis reaction to the drug, so I don't take it or anything like it.

We are never going to know anything for sure because governments lie.

In Thailand, where my brother lives, if you look at the car accident stats it is horrendous the number of people killed in car accidents every year there, but when you know they don't count car accident deaths that don't occur at the scene of the accident.. maybe a few days later in hospital or whatever, then you realise how much worse it might actually be...

Road traffic accident deaths in Thailand for 2013 for instance was over 24 thousand people, which is about 36 people per 100K population per year... and as I mentioned they report only people who die at the scene, not on the way to hospital or in hospital.

But it is the old story... most of the deaths are poor people on motorcycles and nobody in government cares.

Government testing departments often charge a fee to test new drugs but generally rely on the lab tests and statistics from the company making the drug to determine if it is safe or not... as long as they get their fee...

They don't care about side effects, or if cheap generic drugs can do the same thing or better to treat the problem, and as I have mentioned they don't want cures... the income stream from cures is self defeating... treatment can keep money rolling in for the lifetime of the patient and if the condition is contagious then potential future customers too.

Drug development should be government controlled and focus on useful effective cures in the long term with treatments being something they can also make in the short term to reduce suffering.

Furthermore, she met many of them in Singapore later the same year and heard no gossip about people falling ill at the institute.

Everybody gets a choice... in this case you can choose to get vaccinated or you can choose not to... but every choice comes with consequences and your employer has decided that because you work with the public the risk of you not being vaccinated creates a risk you can spread this virus to many people because of your work so if you choose not to get vaccinated then they choose not to continue employing you.

What would this woman say if she found out all the teachers at the school her children attend had AIDS, or Hepatitis C... I rather suspect she would demand they got fired because of the risk to her children and the other children.

They talked about this on RT and the reporter tried to buy some fake certificates... there were two options... the cheap one which is just a certificate, which is useless because you are not on the government database of people who have had the jab so that certificate is useless. The expensive one is a certificate and they promise to put your name on database... for a lot more money.

The reporter ordered the cheap certificate but no one met him at the agreed meeting place so he was essentially scammed out of his money.

Of course if the FSB have any brains... and they do... they will have operatives ordering and buying these things and then arresting the people that turn up to deliver the illegal items. Put them in holding cells with people infected with the virus for a week and see how anti vax they really are.

Attention has been drawn to Russian anti-vax groups that have openly opposed all jabs, suggesting that the coronavirus epidemic is invented or spreading conspiracy theories that the vaccination drive is a cover for a more nefarious operation.

But more Russians appear to believe the vaccines have been rushed to market, or that the coronavirus epidemic is overblown. In the same Levada Centre survey, 55% of Russians said they were not particularly afraid of falling ill with the coronavirus. (That's 52% that should not be allowed to waste ventilators or hospital beds for any reason)

Others have put off vaccinating, saying they are waiting to see what the long-term health side-effects were. A common refrain has been to “wait for the Chumakov vaccine”, which has received a PR-boost in part because it was produced in the laboratory named for a Soviet doctor who helped develop the oral polio vaccine in the 1950s. “We should underline that there’s very little superstitious fear about the vaccine,” a researcher for Levada Centre told Sever Real, part of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. “It’s not the most important [factor] and the answer ‘I don’t trust any vaccines’ is that of a minority.”

One thing I appreciate is a person who stands up for his or her convictions, if those convictions aren't too left field, like when their convictions harms others. So I appreciate you standing up for your convictions.

Two persons in my small community are in hospital with covid. I think they are going to be okay. i have no idea if they had the vaccine or not. One has underlying health issues, and the other is elderly. & no idea where contracted it. Church maybe, or at a store.
