NATO Knives Out for US, by Finian Cunningham for Sputniknews. 19.08.2021.

It was bound to end like this. The United States and its NATO partners went into Afghanistan in the first place to subjugate and plunder with imperial swagger.

Now that the whole criminal enterprise has collapsed 20 years later, the recriminations are intense and bitter.

There were extraordinary scenes in the British parliament this week and among other European capitals. Politicians across the board have been slamming US President Joe Biden’s administration for the disastrous failure in Afghanistan.

Even German Chancellor Angela Merkel who was recently referring to Biden as “dear Joe” has taken to blaming his administration for the mess that has hit the fan this week as Western states rush to evacuate embassies.

French President Emmanuel Macron and other European leaders are worried about a deluge of refugees from Afghanistan.

Biden, as well as his predecessor Donald Trump, are being blamed for the collapse of the NATO-backed regime in Kabul which has been swept away by the Taliban insurgents.

Boris Johnson said the British and other NATO members had no choice but to cut and run from Afghanistan because the Americans had preemptively done so.

How hilarious! So much for “Global Britain” being a world power for good alongside its American “special partner” and their “shared values”. A British navy flotilla currently on a world tour is seen to be as useless as a rubber duck in a bathtub.

British lawmakers and former military chiefs are livid from the United States’ rapid withdrawal from the Central Asian country which blindsided other NATO members.

Other European politicians are decrying that it is the worst failure in the history of the NATO military alliance formed in 1949.

Indeed, the main culprit for the debacle in Afghanistan is Washington. But it is delusional for the Brits and other NATO members to try to shift the blame entirely. They all went into that country using the alliance’s so-called Article Five collective defense clause. The war and 20-year occupation were illegal from the outset having no mandate from the UN Security Council nor any plausible self-defense claim.

The claims about revenge for the “9/11 terror attacks” are risible. The US and its allies went into Afghanistan in a blatant show of military strength to project imperial force to the rest of the world, primarily Russia and China.

All of the NATO powers are guilty of war crimes from the two-decade aggression in Afghanistan, including the mass killing of civilians and running detention-torture centers. Trillions of dollars funded by taxpayers were squandered, given as subsidies to military companies, while hundreds of thousands of lives were destroyed. Millions of Afghans have been made homeless.

The British are first-among-equals in their complicity with American crimes. It was former prime minister Tony Blair who acted as George W Bush’s international cipher for enabling the war.

In the end, the Americans wanted out of their quagmire which they had created 40 years ago when they sponsored the rise of the Mujahideen against a Soviet-aligned government in Kabul. The Mujahideen were the forerunners of the Taliban* and the Al Qaeda* terror network which has since metastasized in several countries giving the US and NATO a pretext for invading.

It is caustically amusing how the Americans used NATO collective defense to give their imperial crimes in Afghanistan a veneer of “international coalition”. Yet in the end, when it came to packing up and getting out, the United States made its decision unilaterally without consulting its so-called allies. And that’s what’s galling them.

The British and the other European governments are now left in the lurch to deal with the public anger and shame over the Afghanistan debacle.

If there is possibly one positive thing to come out of the catastrophe and criminality it is the public realization that the United States and its gang of NATO accomplices are a rogue organization that is a threat to world peace and not, as they preposterously claim, to be about upholding defense, security and “rules-based order”.

Afghanistan started as an imperial criminal enterprise. Now that the charade is exposed, we can expect all the culprits to scurry for cover. And in their scampering for alibis, the knives are out for the king rat – the United States.

    @Airborne

No, we would not do that and it's silly to even suggest it. That is a ridiculous claim and one just fueled by the typical anti-US view on this website.

No country is going to go around purposely bombing ten of thousands of civilians at one spot for the sole purpose they are trying to flee.

Sure they could overrun the Marines at the base, but they won't because that would be absolutely moronic to do on their part, the Taliban are many many things but stupid isn't one of them.

The Taliban seems to have matured well of the past couple of decades. I think they are tired of being constantly at war and they are interested in rebuilding the country. The current leadership seems to be in full control of the situation and it seems that there is some shift to the moderate side, which is a good sign for the woman of Afghanistan in particular. Faction fighting within the Taliban could trigger yet another civil war, but for now the signs are quite positive indeed.

Taliban are now padded with massive numbers of civilians and blowing them up on livestream would not be something that USA would be eager to do (without livestream would be a different thing, bruised ego is a powerful drug)

Taliban know this and like you said they are not stupid

USA gets to do this evacuation because Taliban allow it to happen, if they suddenly change their mind there's nothing that USA can do short of starting another war and doing that now would be political suicide for DC

...The evacuating flights can be organized to any foreign countries that will be ready to receive and accommodate the Afghans, Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news conference in Moscow.

“In order to prevent the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, we are ready to provide Russian civil aviation services to ensure the flight of any number of Afghan citizens, including women and children, to any foreign countries, who will show interest in their reception and placement," she said...

Hehehe yes I am rather hopeful and optimistic but there are positive signs one can not ignore. However Massoud's son is already asking the US for financial and military aid to fight the Taliban but I'm not sure if the US has the apatite for yet another disaster - but with those f***rs you never know? Here is another bit of - no surprise at all - news What a Face

"Official review exposes how US reconstruction of Afghanistan was built on death, fraud and lies"

    https://www.rt.com/op-ed/532512-official-review-us-reconstruction-afghanistan/

"The shocking extent of America’s failure to build a safe and secure Afghanistan is laid bare in a newly published report. It spells out in explicit detail the mind-boggling corruption and incompetence that doomed the mission."

"In all, Washington spent two decades and $145 billion attempting to westernize the country, while struggling to maintain a corrupt, unpopular and illegitimate government in power, and battling an ongoing insurgency against the Taliban and a constellation of armed militias. "

Starting in 2010, china was slowly taking all of those minerals, now China will quickly take those minerals. But China will slowly build up the country as well.

I read reports, that China was taking more minerals in Afghanistan and more oil in Iraq(Trump alluded to this as well) than the US. Now the US and western countries will quickly take in all the Afghan refugees, while China quickly takes the minerals in Afghanistan.

Talibans are not stupid. If they start mass killings and attack retreating US forces that may make US come back or keep US plabes around forever nd bomb them everyday.

Now they are leaving leting them the country. They will just wait them to leave. They don't care about those Afghan going away. They have the country.

But they won't be opening Burger Kings and McDonalds any day soon.

And actually they haven't "matured" but their leadership got younger so they are more open. But not that much. We will see it only in a couple of months when it will be totally impossible for US to come back.

Sounds like the anti-Chinese propaganda from US Congress and others. I'm not convinced the US and it's allies would have allowed China to mine precious minerals in Afghanistan whilst they were in "control"?

I am thinking it is true(I have no evidence to back it up), in Iraq, China was buying a crap load of oil at a discount(Trump even alluded to this, as have others even in China.) So I don't see a reason to why China would not be in Afghanistan getting minerals.

But whatever the case in the past, all those minerals are now going to China.

I am looking very hard to find answers to some questions I have, I have researched online for the past 3-4 days but I am more confused than I started because there is so much online, that you don't know, who to trust.

I am hoping someone who has a good understanding can answer these questions for me:

Why did the US just all of sudden pull out of Afghanistan? What were they trying to accomplish? What did they want to achieve from this?

What does this mean for China?

What does this mean for Russia?

What does this mean for Iran?

What does this mean for the US?

What does this mean for the EU?

What does this mean for western countries?

What does this mean for Pakistan?

What does this mean for the rest of Asia and Central Asia?

What do you see happening in the future regarding Afghanistan?

    Thanks in advance.

The sudden US pullout? That's what you do when you know you lost the War.

What does it mean for the US/EU and other Western countries? They lost their foothold in the region and are now irrelevant.

What does it mean for Russia/China and Iran? Looking forward to good neighbourly relations that will bring trade and stability to the region.

What does it mean for Pakistan? That depends entirely on their secret service's plans.

Stability in the region would mean that Afghanistan can rebuild and establish good relations with it's neighbours. Lets hope so.

They didn't just pull out as such... they had made a deal with the Taliban to leave. Apparently this was to be 4 months ago but was rescheduled to be by the end or first of September. However they thought the Afghani government would last longer but as NATO started to pull out troops, it just collapsed so things snowballed from there.

    19-year old footballer.

The article is a bit contradicting itself.
Did he fall from the plane?. or got disasembled into basic human components by the landing gear?.
Or you know?. did his ass go on for the full Journey to Qatar and everything above stayed at Kabul?.
    So many questions Razz.

Either way, congratulations on the Darwin Award.

    Edit:
What the actual ****?. read the following crap on the U.S Afghanistan embassy site.

By the video taken by someone inside the plane his body was being buffeted like... well as much as you would expect traveling at 500 km/h... poor dumb f**k!

These Western liberals, they just live in a parallel reality

I'm done with Twitter, I really am. Full of various people who live on Cloud 9.
Which is fitting because twitter really is based on a cloud server, and in every respect is a parallel world where any opinion and anything goes no matter how silly.

I am VERY surprised that there is still anything left!

There are massive deposits of iron ore and copper (World's second largest). I believe that a contract for an iron ore mine is out to tender and a copper mine is underway. It is two years before anything comes out of the ground and a couple of $B to develop. Obviously these are ores destined for China. When added in with their other minerals the country could be reasonably well off. Being a Belt and Road transit path will also create wealth and much better transit routes.
