The optimal one is to stick to the Ukraine. Attacking Finland achieves precisely nothing, and there is nothing for Russia to do there. Russia has its buffer territories from the last war still.

Zelensky is for his own people/elites to topple. Or to remain as president, while signing an act of capitulation with Russia. Whichever fate he prefers.

If Kiev is toppled, you can end up seizing a route of neutrality along an arc of Kiev, Uzhgorod, Budapest, Belgrade, and then Montenegro will fall which will take the line to the Adriatic.
That's it. Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey will be cut-off by land from the rest of NATO, and the first two will likely switch.

Who then cares about Finland being in NATO in comparison?

We are surrounded by both enemies and Nato, the situations for us is extremely difficult at the moment even without the Kosovo issue that multiplies the problem 10 fold. We are a small nation with limited military  power. But I expected them to at least abstain, people are furious with the vote as I am.

To join EU Serbia needs to vote as a bloc and that is what we are seeing. Serbian people are either pro-Russian or want Serbia to stay out of this.

And I am from a vassal country myself and I can clearly see when unpopular actions are being taken by the government that contradicts what the population wants.

Finland cannot be allowed to join NATO and be used as a base for offensive actions against Russia's main population core.
Just look at a map. If Ukraine was existential then Finland isn't less existential. Georgia is a lot less consequential and Russia still went to war to get them out of NATO at least once.

With regards to Serbia, it is not like I cannot understand their problems. They are basically surrounded by the EU and soon NATO and they have no sea ports to speak of.

Finland could have been used as a staging point to attack Russia even without NATO membership. They were neutral only on paper. Even more evident with Sweden and their beloved Gotland. There is no way realistic way for Russia to stop their memberships now.

With Serbia - the only problem is that they want to access EU bloc due to economic benefits, I understand that, but with this there will loss of sovereignty.

If NATzO proceeds to swallow up Finland and bring their military assets ever closer to Russia's national borders, can Russia at least make the life of everyone in the West a living hell? Maybe pull out of the nuclear test ban treaty and detonate some fifty tsar bomba each week and blanket the entire planet with radioactive material until everyone is choked to death. Again, its better for Russia to take everyone down with them than just surrender to NATzO without a fight.

Theres a difference between a willing vassal state like eu countries, Australia, Canada etc and us being forced literally at gunpoint to make decisions we don’t agree with. Not that long ago we were invaded and devastated by nato, Another attack like that or even just sanctions would cripple us completely. We have abstained from enacting sanctions, flights still active to Russia, and just on that we are being threatened and pressured on constantly. If we were better placed geographically or were a much larger more powerful country, you can bet a middle finger is all they would get.
