Well if they can salvage anything useful from the wreck.

The thing is.. they'll upgrade the radar. Either -Really- makes Su-57 AESA derivatives for Su-27 family or some changes of modes etc. It's not the end of the world tho.

After Belenko defected, MiG-25 got a new Radar. When Kub got captured in Middle East and Libya, Buk family is already underway.

One would expect Su-30SM and Su-34 will also subject to similar upgrades/vulnerability fix.

Article is poorly written, by someone who clearly has little to no idea of military stuff.

Would prefer a better source to begin with.

Then, as noted, even if anyone manages to salvage anything of value from that wreck, the Irbis is still just a PESA and mostly differs from earlier iterations (Bars etc) in transmitting power (ECM burn through capability etc).

In short, NATO most likely already has exhaustive intelligence on this, given that radars of this family have been exported left and right for years.

I would expect "fighter radar experts" to pop up like mushrooms in raining seasons on twitter soon.

Just saying, even the Serbian F-117 shootdown and subsequent salvage (which included parts sent to Russia, only rumored at the time but confirmed in 2018 or something), while much more notable than this still wasn't that big of a deal for the U.S. opsec-wise, though it certainly was a big deal PR wise.

The aircraft didn't represent the latest and greatest, its stealth technologies were already of a previous generation, but the reputation of it being invisible and untouchable took a hit and the Serbs deserve all respect.
