Russian troops are often identified by the letter “Z” on their vehicles or uniforms. We can thus call them the “Zees”

Those opposed to the Russians have shunned and “canceled” the letter “Z” itself. We can thus refer to them as the "Not-Zees"

The currency ratio is not a sign of something being right or wrong.
Now Russia's current account is flooded with the currency that is being converted. So the ruble will strengthen, as the mass of the conversion is enormous, and now is being made inside the Russian monetary system.

A strong currency will definitely benefit the man on the street and it will be good for imports as well. Too strong a currency will have a negative effect on exports though once it has to compete with cheaper products from foreign countries like China. Getting Rubles for oil and gas exports will be very beneficial for the economy as a whole.

Different use of the word 'safely'.

In the sense that "safely move troops" means that nothing untoward might happen in the area they are located if they exit it, as opposed to 'safely moving' and not being destroyed when doing so which we know is hazardous but the Ukies do seem to be able to move around.

MOSCOW, May 20. / TASS /. Ka-52 reconnaissance and attack helicopters play a leading role in helicopter technology during the special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine. Alexander Mikheev, the head of Rosoboronexport, told journalists about this at the Helirussia-2022 exhibition on Friday.

“We are closely monitoring the use of our military equipment in the course of a special military operation in Ukraine. Russian military helicopters Ka-52, Mi-28N and Mi-8AMTSh (in the export version of Mi-171Sh) are successfully used. reconnaissance and attack helicopters Ka-52, which are the leaders of tactical groups of combat and transport-combat helicopters," he said.

According to him, the high efficiency of the Ka-52 helicopters is achieved by a combination of high power-to-weight ratio, maneuverability, flight performance and operational characteristics, the presence of an integrated on-board radio-electronic complex, powerful weapons, an on-board defense system, as well as a high degree of their armor protection.

Not sure if it was posted here, but Reuters on Russia using laser weapons in the war...

    https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-touts-new-generation-blinding-laser-weapons-2022-05-18/

LONDON, May 18 (Reuters) - Russia on Wednesday said it was using a new generation of powerful lasers in Ukraine to burn up drones, deploying some of Moscow's secret weapons to counter a flood of Western arms.

Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018 unveiled an intercontinental ballistic missile, underwater nuclear drones, a supersonic weapon and a laser weapon.

Little is known about the specifics of the new laser. Putin mentioned one called Peresvet, named after a medieval Orthodox warrior monk Alexander Peresvet who perished in mortal combat.

Yury Borisov, the deputy prime minister in charge of military development, told a conference in Moscow that Peresvet was already being widely deployed and it could blind satellites up to 1,500 km above Earth.

He said there were already more powerful systems than Peresvet that could burn up drones and other equipment. Borisov cited a test on Tuesday which he said had burned up a drone 5 km away within five seconds.

"If Peresvet blinds, then the new generation of laser weapons lead to the physical destruction of the target - thermal destruction, they burn up," he told Russian state television.

Asked if such weapons were being used in Ukraine, Borisov said: "Yes. The first prototypes are already being used there." He said the weapon was called "Zadira".

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy mockingly compared news of the lasers to the so-called wonder weapons that Nazi Germany unveiled in a bid to prevent defeat in World War Two.

"The clearer it became that they had no chance in the war, the more propaganda there was about an amazing weapon that would be so powerful as to ensure a turning point," he said in a late night video address.

"And so we see that in the third month of a full-scale war, Russia is trying to find its 'wonder weapon' ... this all clearly shows the complete failure of the mission."

Almost nothing is publicly known about Zadira but in 2017 Russian media said state nuclear corporation Rosatom helped develop it as part of a programme to create weapons-based new physical principles.

The invasion of Ukraine has illustrated the limits of Russia's post-Soviet conventional armed forces, though Putin says the "special military operation" is going to plan.

Borisov's remarks indicate Russia has made significant progress with laser weapons, a trend of considerable interest to other nuclear powers such as the United States and China.

Using lasers to blind satellites was once a fantasy from the realm of science fiction, but the United States, China and Russia have been working on variants of such weapons for years.

Besides the benefit of burning up drones, blinding reconnaissance systems has a strategic impact too as satellites are used to monitor intercontinental ballistic missiles carrying nuclear weapons.

Borisov said he had just returned from Sarov, which is a centre of Russia's nuclear weapons research. He said a new generation of laser weapons using a wide electromagnetic band would ultimately replace conventional weapons.

"This is not some sort of exotic idea; it is the reality," Borisov said.

    The ruble appreciation is good

    1) countries that will still buy from Russia will keep Rubles as a reserve currency,  with ruble becoming stronger, it will promote the purchase of rubles in India, China, EU, South America, and Asia

    2) debt repayments in rubles would be attractive with a stronger currency

    3) in terms of cost Russian prices are cheaper according to "PPP index" so even with a stronger currency, the value of commodities and finished goods will reflect a true price, not a severely devalued one, nor an inflated one - also Russia must strengthen its domestic market

The exit of Nissan, McDonald's, Grant Thornton, KPMG, Deloitte, Nike, Boeing, Airbus, Google, Visa, Nintendo,  Cisco, Mitsubishi, Ford, Siemens,  and other such companies means a vacuum was created which must be filled

Russian Audit and Tax companies, Russian payment processor, auto manufacturers, Aerospace, computer and electronics, all these industries must be filled by strong Russian companies that give incentive to Oligarchs to invest into the country as well as SME to replace the companies along the supply chain

Russia is going into period of economic expansion, while the world economy enters recession, Russia posts Q1 3 5% growth, account surpluses, and appreciating currency

The future of Russia is domestic orders, and domestic business

    Not export

Russia is seeing construction boom, also more Russian cars, More Russian planes, more Russian consumer electronics , and everything else that goes with it

Russian restaurant chains, Russian FBK growing into a new Audit and Tax standard for Eurasia away from the compromised big 4 system

Claimed by the Ukrainians on the 18th. Any other confirmation or just another rather different PR stunt?

In Melitopol, a Russian armored train consisting of 10 cars was blown up.

The explosion was carried out remotely under a car with the occupants ' personnel. The incident occurred in the area of the meat processing plant.

As a result of the explosion, two railway tracks were damaged, an armored train was stopped, and a locomotive with 10 fuel tanks following the armored train was also stopped.

It is also known that in the area of the building of the former district state administration and the green Polyclinic, where the “commandant's Office” of the armed forces of the Russian Federation is located, an explosion was heard (two guarantors previously blew up) and a shootout took place. Automatic bursts were also heard in the area of Schmidt Street, and the road was blocked around the headquarters of the occupation forces. We will remind, on the eve of Melitopol unknown persons killed two invaders.

It had, and what is even more interesting - it seems that Ch-22 was a visitor.
That would push up the accuracy of the system MUCH above the "well known", and that would be not the first time.
Seems that the systems ze Wezt considered as nuclear grade accuracy can do MUCH better in real ...

Russia tries to parry the punches, til its worn out. But doesn't punch the aggressor itself.
Thats sometimes akin to punching a knife rather than a knifer.

The knifer being the United Snakes and minions. The knife being Bandera-stan.
So my question is... how does Russia best defend itself against the knifer?

With 780bases around the World, there is no shortage of targets... and enemies of America to arm/"help in the battle for liberation from Western imperialism".
But does anyone have an idea what preferred tactics might be?

Russia maybe is respecting USA too much due to whatever old-school "gentlemen's agreements" there were at some point of history. Expecting USA to do the same. But USA is not acting the same way - they are always seeking ways to compromise Russian national interests.

Iran has done great job pushing USA from Middle East. They are operating among the freedom fighters in Iraq and supplying rockets etc. which are hitting occupiers bases. Iran is not respecting or fearing USA. And they have show there is little USA can do about it.

Russia could and should start with relatively low profile IMO following similar approach. Deep sabotage and helping freedom fighters in places like Somalia where US occupant forces are present. No reason to hit their base with Iskanders but make it uncomfortable for them. Support the people who just want to rule their own countries. That is a legitimate cause no one has anything to complain about in front of "international law".
