But Israel-style deterrence will not work. Again, Kiev's rulers care neither for their population nor their own underlings. They take their orders from Washington and receive their scripts from PR agencies. They're actors, and only acting as leaders.

You have to go in and flush them out, or stick to blasting purely military targets

But doing nothing was accomplishing nothing.

The only way to end it is to chase the Kiev regime out of the country. Yes taking Kiev would be a bloody mess. But so was taking cities back in ww2.

Maybe attacks on Kiev will drive most of the civilians out and then Russia can just send in the troops. Just physically remove the regime.

I mean you do not need to go into Keiv, it has no ability to sustain itself, your better off just encircling it and forcing them out that way. This would take a while sure but trying to force your way into Kiev is going to be massive bloodbath for both sides

Kyiv is the main city and the seat of the Ukrainian regime. Of course it is important to take it. We have to put an end to the bastards, otherwise they will be attacking with terrorism indefinitely.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy reports that all energy exports are to cease, due to severe domestic shortage.

Really illustrates how soft Russia has actually been going, if Ukraine 10 months in of a supposedly "brutal genocidal invasion" were still exporting electricity. NATO imnmediately pummeled Serbia's energy infrastructure and kept going for several months,

Ex-President of Russia, current deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev — made a statement:

“The first episode has been played. There will be others. And further. I will express my personal position. I can't help but mention it now. The Ukrainian state in its current configuration with the Nazi political regime will pose a constant, direct and clear threat to Russia. Therefore, in addition to protecting our people and protecting the borders of the country, the goal of our future actions, in my opinion, should be the complete dismantling of the political regime of Ukraine.”

These things are truly frightening. Cyber attribution is murky business, and it is almost impossible to be sure of anything.

When some hawks back in the day started calling for cyber attacks to be equated to kinetic ditto, and warrant a similar response, it made my blood cold.

What type of attacks are they saying it's about? Denial of service attacks for instance often come from Russian IPs due to obsolete OSes being widespread among the general public, thus being ripe ground for malware botnets that are for hire.

The most likely culprit is Ukraine (as in the customer of the attack), anyway. They desperately need even more U.S. engagement.

That's rather hawkish of him, reminds me of "Assad must go".

In this case, Medvedev is probably right. Kiev regime is all about terrorism, the shelling of Donbass citizens for 8 years was pure terrorism with almost zero military objective.

It is all about cause and effect . The Crow has an plan . In it's mind , it can model the special steps needed to get the food . However , it is mistaken in it's choice of tools . So it adapts the plan , learns , and uses the big stick . Mental objects , should not be confused with physical ones , that have an actual relationship .

I would love to see Iskanders cratering Ukrainian runaways. That will severely impede their airpower more. However as what happened in Shayrat, airfield seems to be quite resilient against cruise or ballistic missile attack.

Maybe cluster munitions should be employed too to discourage repair.

Just to be safe. Those low flying is more likely to survive and RTB. those flying high well.. they got picked by S-300 and 400's.

I would assume it happens more than what's being videoed or captured. I do suspect those Ukrainian claims of Russian firing S-300/400 missiles to ground target is actually failed Ukrainian S-300 launch. Ukrainian stocks of 5V55 missiles are kind of doubtful state. Normal lifespan for 5V55 and 48N6 missiles are 15-20 years in the tube for which after they are taken out of service and expended in training.

Being 'pro Russian political front' meant being oppressed, arrested, or killed for 8 years.
They have kidnapped and kept hostage for 6 months a chairman of their own Rada.
That is the second person in a country's political line for most of the democratic systems that have no vice president post.

This is true, but what I want to see is Kiev's airports and railroad terminals leveled. NATO leadership should in no way at all feel safe doing photo ops with Zelensky. Kiev, while doing all possible to protect civilians and historic sites, needs to see its government, military, transport, industrial, and power infrastructure cratered.
