Wagner is largely neutered now, what's left poses no threat to Keiv even at their max strength, they wouldn't have the manpower needed to take a large city like keiv

Looking at the manpower it's obvious that this wouldn't be the goal. They probably take Chernigov. Wagner is probably going to cause some trouble on some front and lure away Ukros to thin out the fronts on other directions around Chernigov.

At this stage at war, no PMCs are needed. Combined operations, large front and so on. Urban fighting is not a priority now

Wagner is basically no more, Putin will not allow them to exist to any real degree, most will be absorbed into the army, sure some will retire and a few will go with prozi, but Wagner is effectively dead as you know it. So do not expect any "offenses" from them

Agree that it is done as an integrated fighting force subcontractor to the Russian State, with the bulk of its 'workforce' now signed up with the MoD. Senior officer level absorption will be interesting, but for many others a lot of opportunities I suggest for trainer roles.
See it now as an 'export' only operation, a more traditional PMC, in Africa, probably with a name change as per Blackwater/Acadamii. Maybe run out of Belarus.

How can you even call this a win? The US Neocons are likely salivating right now thinking this is confirmation that all their claims that Russia will implode with the conflict are true. That if they push just a bit more they will get what they want. It will only make them all the more eager to push more.

It's definitely a win for the neocons. They will indeed use this to put more pressure and assist Ukraine further. But while this is a massive loss externally, it's a win internally as it consolidated power in Russia and remove any potential dissidents. The external affair issue will simply take time to revert the damages. And best way for that is continue to win in Ukraine.
