What is known about the strike on the SBU building in Dnepr at the moment.

- The left wing of the building of the SBU department building in Dnepropetrovsk region was partially destroyed. Judging by the nature of the arrival, a buried object or room located in the left wing was presumably assigned to the hit.

- Statements that the building was empty and there was no one there at the time of the impact do not stand up to criticism. In the car park of the SBU department at 23 Svyatoslav Khrabrygo Street, there were many cars, presumably of the employees of the special service.

- The accuracy of the arrival is striking. The other buildings around remained intact, a separate section of the building was destroyed. This is reminiscent of the strike on the GUR building in Kiev.

- It is also curious that the strike was carried out without an air alert being declared, all AFU air defence interception equipment in the area, as well as target detection radars, failed to identify what was presumably a ballistic missile.

- Earlier, the speaker of the Air Force of the AFU, Yuriy Ignat, said that the Ukrainian air defence had nothing to shoot down the Russian Armed Forces' ballistic speed missiles. This statement, as well as the accuracy of the arrival, suggests that ballistic missiles of the Iskander missile defence system were most likely used on the SBU headquarters building in Dnepr.

From the damage I would suggest that the target was the low level building, now demolished, with the corner of the tall building, seemingly collateral damage due to its weakness perhaps being a stairwell.

This is the first confirmed use of the BULAVA submarine lauched strategic missile.

You do have to admit it was a laudable effort though

But that makes it worse.... a technique to go through minefields is only capable of getting you hip deep in shit is worse than getting blown up by the first mine at the edge of the minefield. At least if you hit the first mine at the edge of the minefield it is safer to recover your bodies and the remains of the vehicle.

I think I saw at least four standoff mines either firing standoff HEAT warheads or SFF fragment warheads... the puff of smoke about 20-30m away from the vehicle with a line leading towards the armoured vehicle that gets hit...

Its the ATGM variant of the Kinzhal.  Its been future-proofed, ie designed with plenty of... margin... to deal with any conceivable armour upgrades that NATO might introduce.

Have noticed lately that the daily Russian Defense briefing on the SVO are more and more identifying the Russian units involved. They have always identified the Ukrainian units but would only occasionally mention the specific Russian unit. Yesterday's briefing was full of unit mentions:

Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation (29 July 2023)

On the evening of 28 July, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a precision-guided weapons strike on an AFU control point in Dnepropetrovsk.

The assigned target has been neutralised. The goal of the attack has been reached.

The AFU continued unsuccessful attempts at offensive actions in South Donetsk, Krasny Liman and Donetsk directions.

The units of the 36th Combined-Arms Army and Airborne Troops successfully repelled 2 enemy attacks near Staromayorskoye and Urozhaynoye DPR. During the fighting, the enemy lost up to 70 servicemen, 1 tank, 1 IFV, and 2 pickup trucks.

1 ammunition depot of the enemy 44th Artillery Brigade has been destroyed near Maryanovka (Zaporozhye).

Two enemy attacks have been repelled near Raigorodka LPR and Serebryansky forestry.

8 AFU manpower and hardware concentration areas have been hit close to Novogorovka, Nevskoye and Chervonaya Dibrova LPR, Torskoye, and Grigorovka DPR.

The enemy losses were up to 170 servicemen, 3 AFVs, 2 motor vehicles, 1 Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system, and 1 D-20 howitzer.

In Kupyansk direction, the assault detachments of the Zapad Group of Forces continued offensive operations close to Kuzyomovka LPR and took more favourable positions.

As a result of actions by Army Aviation and artillery, AFU units have been hit close to Sinkovka, Timkovka, Berestovoye (Kharkov), Stelmakhovka LPR.

The enemy losses were up to 20 servicemen, 3 motor vehicles and 1 D-20 howitzer.

1 ammunition depot of the AFU 43rd Mechanised Brigade has been destroyed near Druzhelyubovka (Kharkov).

In Kherson direction, the enemy losses were up to 20 servicemen, 2 motor vehicles, and 1 D-30 howitzer.

Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralised 97 AFU artillery units at their firing positions, manpower and hardware in 103 areas.

1 fuel depot of the Ukrainian grouping of troops 'Zaporozhye' has been destroyed close to Zaporozhye.

1 command post of the AFU 47th Mechanised Brigade has been hit near Orekhov (Zaporozhye).

Air defence facilities have intercepted 2 S-200 surface-to-air missiles upgraded to attack ground targets, 7 Storm Shadow cruise missiles and 2 HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system projectiles.

In addition, 6 UAVs have been destroyed close to Verkhnekamenka LPR, Spornoye, Pervomayskoye, and Maryinka DPR, as well as Marfopol (Zaporozhye).
