Making progress with DIY anti - Virus nose inserts. Having found the commercial variety usually used for hay fever sufferers useless. In sealing the nose properly, being too short and not re-usable. I made improved version. Wearing these is far cheaper than high grade face masks. Much less cumbersome. Here how to do it :
You will need :
( 1) A length of 13 mm o/d - 10 mm i/d pvc or silicone tube. Smaller diameter for children.
( 2) Small and thin cotton, make up removal pad. Similar to Laneila product ( China) or filter paper.
( 3) Ladies long and thin stockings. Elasticated fabric.
( 4 ) Normal sewing string. And scissors.
Cut two lengths of tube to 20 mm length. Put two sheets of thin cotton pads or filter fabric on top of hole, together with a section of stocking fabric. Wrap all three around tube neatly. Tie these to tube, near open end with string. Trim off excess filter and fabric, from around base of nasal insert. Insert into nose, one at a time. The fabric surrounding the tube, provides a comfortable fit, stopping the tube, from cutting into nose. And providing air tight seal. You can test this, by blocking end of tube with thumb. If seal is good, you will not be able to breathe at all through that nostril. But once you release thumb, you should be able to breathe fairly easily. Without and danger of inhaling cotton particles. To check filter is good, hold against bright light, you should not see any gaps in fabric. These are disposable. You simply retain the plastic inserts. Time to make a pair, 5 minutes. Air tight. Breathe in through nose. Breathe out through mouth.
