This Frankenstein modification looks Mad Max styled, but it must work if they do so.
10 years of intense war gives a hell of an experience.
I guess that SAA is among the best trained and battle-hardened formations on the planet at the moment.
Just give them gear, and watch ...

It is a very clever idea... lots of stuff in real operations you have to carry around like a mattress or bedding is too bulky to carry inside the vehicle so being able to fit lots of crap between the cage armour and the hull and turret armour makes a lot of sense... though after being in combat you might find a few holes in you mattress and pillow... you could place water bottles and other items there too... everything helps when it comes to protection, and would be useful when you stop to have a comfortable mattress to sleep on and water to drink in excess of what is delivered by support units.

I suppose they can make their tanks Spike proof too, if they aren't already.

That is actually very sensible.... because where there is no enemy air power then this vehicle would be used near the front line where its thin armour would make it terribly vulnerable to ground fire... including 50 cal HMG fire.
This layered armour will add to the weight of the vehicle but assuming the slat armour is decent and those metal boxes have water or sand in them then that is actually a very useful addition that will make the vehicle rather more durable and survivable.
The standard vehicle would be shredded by 14.5mm or 23mm weapons, but with that add on armour they should be protected from such ammo.
Interesting it only has three barrels.
I have seen a modification where they took out the lower two 23mm barrels and replaced them with 14.5mm HMG barrels... the ammo would be smaller so they should be able to carry rather more rounds for targets that don't require the full power 23 x 152mm rounds.
Would need separate sights for aiming though.

In southern Syria, more than 5.5 thousand militants decided to surrender to the Russian military.
Amid preparations for a large-scale sweep of the Syrian province of Daraa, located in southwestern Syria, more than 5,5 militants and members of illegal armed groups have already decided to surrender to Russian servicemen in exchange for a guarantee of no further persecution.
The militants, who, as previously stated, are supported by Jordan and Israel, have decided to surrender their weapons and take advantage of guarantees from the Russian military that they will not be pursued by Damascus or the Russian side. In fact, this made it possible to ensure stability in this region and government forces are already beginning to arrive here to regain control over the province.
Clashes in Daraa province have dropped significantly recently, however, radicals are still present in the region, as evidenced by the discovery of improvised explosive devices that were supposed to be used for terrorist attacks and attacks on both the Syrian and Russian military to escalate tensions.
Experts believe that in connection with the establishment of peace in the region, the Syrian army can now start cleaning up other Syrian provinces from terrorists.

That is good positive news for Syria... I am sure they are sick of the fighting by now... and everyone has paid a horrible price.

Northeast Syria will probably re-join politicly (unless these US bootlickers want to get backstabbed by the US again, sure have at it), Upcoming offensive is not good for Erdogan, Turkey's economy and it's people don't want another war and waves of refuges especially with his declining popularity and high gas prices so close to winter, and right before elections too, Putin knows when to punch .
