It would be nice to have, but people on this board are overly fixated on these things.

This ship is a nice ship for patrolling some japanese islands , with the caveat of nice Kalibr missiles, redut, and anti sub capabilities.

But ultimately Russia has other options to deliver these weapons to enemy forces.

INF is gone so Kalibr will be launched from any point that is thousands of km from intended target.

Provorniy in particular was for the pacific fleet. But we are aware that both S400 and S300VM are stationed at Matua and Iturup as well as Sakhalin.

As for the anti submarine capabilities, theres no shortage of ASW planes, submarines, and ships available.

20380 is performing this task and Rezkiy is coming online anyway.

Yes Provorniy is for sure a wonderful addition to the fleet. But as stated numerous times:

It's being rebuilt and most likely the commission date will slip to 1 year, and ship was not far along as it was. Fiberglass superstructure is rebuilt in 6 months max. Everything else can take another 6 months. it's small blip for RU and at most, points to needed updates to work standards and management will be responsible for it.

In the end is not big deal. 1 corvette is not factoring into Kremlin plans to establish dominance over NATO, Japan, or any other potential aggressor, Russia is too prepared in this regard.

It has taken decades worth of man hours to develop and design and get right all the technologies that went in to this boat, the fact that the technologies are in service on other versions of this boat already means a delay for one boat is hardly the end of the world... it is not like they have to completely redesign the thing.

They just need to rip out the damaged parts and wipe down and clean the parts that will stay and then put in new parts.

    Not a big deal.

It is not like they built a stealth fighter and sent it to the border of Iran and Iraq ready to sneak in and blow shit up without being noticed and then have Russia tell Iran there are stealth fighters on their border that they are tracking in real time from 5,000km away and you should be on high alert.

That would be a crushing revelation that the most expensive fighter programme you have ever run because it is so stealthy and so easy to support with its super support system is not stealthy at all and the support system has been cancelled so it will remain a financial burden to all its customers for the live time of the aircraft... unless the rumours of china getting the plans are true and they can offer upgrades and changes to make the thing work and make it affordable to operate...

On Monday, December 20, Severnaya Verf issued a press release , in which it stated:

“On the weekend after the completion of the fire extinguishing work on the " Provorny " corvette , the Severnaya Verf specialists carried out its initial inspection. The factory services preliminarily established that, thanks to the mounted fire insulation between the superstructure and the deck, the ship's hull was not damaged. The superstructure must be dismantled. There was no equipment in the superstructure. Negotiations are underway with JSC SNSZ on the construction of a new superstructure.

To prevent freezing of the water that got into the hold during the extinguishing of the fire, heating and electricity were ordered on Saturday and Sunday, about 100 workers provided the pumping of water and drying the surfaces. They also cleaned the premises from the effects of the fire.

To assess the damage, a commission was created from representatives of the plant and the USC, and it started to work. It is too early to talk about the causes of the fire. It will take several weeks for an authorized commission to investigate the circumstances and determine the cause ”[end of release].

Later, an unofficial source at Severnaya Verf estimated the cost of damage from the fire at 22 billion rubles.

That makes 260+ mln euro, $300 mln, making this news utterly bullshit. The whole corvette costs less than double.

Surprised that the superstructure burns so readily. I thought they would have developed a composite that is less flammable I cannot imagine how it would deal with being struck even with 30mm cannon. That would burn like crazy.

Typically ships have a fire suppression system on board like halon or other systems. But obviously this is only possible to work if the ships auxiliary systems are installed.

In any case, any and all ships will burn like this , see USS bonhomme, french rubis submarine, or type 075 LHD.

Many factors will affect fire safety and every case can be different, but any ship can catch fire and be lost if there is no protocol or if the crew/workers are not present to contain this

You could lay a new keel and have a complete ship in less time.

The 5 year timeline may actually be a correct estimation for the ship's delivery.
It does not mean that the factory will actually work constantly for 5 years until the ship is ready. No, nothing like that.

This is how I understand it:
    - About one year to make all the damage assessment, debris removal and repair estimations + contracting
    - About 2 years of wait time where no work is done on the ship until the new composite superstructure is built by the contractor. During this time the hull will be placed in the water again only to be brought back to the yard when they are going to install the new superstructure.
    - About 2 years 2 finish the ship. This is the actual work time.

That structure can be done in matter of few months. Everything else is already ready. I bet 1 year delay.

Looks like a screen grab from a video... any idea where that video might be?

The triangular support struts and the shaping of the under hatch upper surface seem optimised specifically for this missile.

Is it Redut or a new specialist launcher hatch just for 9M100?

That is what I envisioned the Redut would look like with four 9M96 tubes, those tubes appear to be rather large calibre for the hatch area.
