They are so small and fly so slow that most radars automatically filter them out as irrelevant noise (birds etc) as well.
Lowering the threshold (and if the radar type is suitable to begin with) would solve it, but create a host of new problems. Some more sophisticated, perhaps AI-powered filtering could work I guess.
I suspect we'll see an explosion of clever drone countermeasures in the coming years.
Anyway, more pointless, random shelling of civvies in the Donetsk and Belgorod regions this morning.
So I take it something went real bad for UA on the actual battlefield, as that's the typical pattern.

The Crimean bridge was additionally fenced with special anti-sabotage booms - in case of new attempts by Kiev to commit a terrorist attack. According to our information, in the future, the structures will protect the bridge from attacks throughout its entire length.
Such barriers are designed to protect against surface and underwater drones, which Ukraine has been increasingly using recently. These are both equipment supplied by NATO, and jet skis converted into kamikaze drones.
Recall that recently Zelensky called the Crimean bridge a "target" and said that it should be neutralized. And on July 26, the head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, publicly admitted that it was Kiev who committed the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge on October 8, 2022, although this fact had previously been denied.
Tanks need drone-specific APS. A localized detection system would be more effective than SAM radar units. A drone in the immediate vicinity of a tank is a large target. The problem is how to keep this APS from triggering from the motion of other objects (e.g. driving by a branch). They need to track the EM from a drone instead of using radar. This is easier in the localized context since the drone EM signal is weak.

A target on the their backs and no second chance. If they get any further forward than a rear command center that is.
Spriter Team @SpriterTeam The leaders of the Azov national battalion who returned from Turkey to Ukraine will again participate in hostilities as part of the National Guard, said Oleksandr Pivnenko, commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, in an interview with the Ukrainska Pravda online publication.
There is no ban on the participation of Azov commanders transferred by Turkey in hostilities, says Pivnenko
Earlier, the "radish" Prokopenko met with the new composition of "Azov" and stated that they returned precisely to participate in hostilities, saying that this is their main goal. 1:13 PM · Jul 31, 2023 · 2,910 Views
The American press reports that Major General Anthony Potts of the US Army died in the United States under unclear circumstances. According to one version, Putts died during a plane crash when his private plane crashed in Maryland. According to another version, Potts was killed in Ukraine during a Russian missile attack on one of the command posts in Ukraine.
In recent years, Potts has been involved in technological innovation and the deployment of operational communications systems on the battlefield, as well as the supply of various infantry equipment. He took an active part in the US aggression against Iraq and the occupation of this country (war criminal with experience)

Best way to deal with them is shotguns... you know the ones seen in movies where they shoot at plates in the air. They need to give at least one light shot gun per squad or group of soldiers working togather.
EW is also another good tool because those drones are civilian drones so you know easily what frequencies and what power you need to jamm them.
But one thing is sure, they change the battlefield and you can't have 0 losses when you face them. They can easily destroy multimillion dollar equipement.
It not hard to harden a drone against shotguns. They have a very small range. Dones like Lancelet are very easy fortify against this, the quad copters are a bit harder but possible. 20mm with airburst ammo is much better.
photo from Ukro prosecutor office - someone denounced him obviously
So he had no ammo left for the tank. Otherwise... from my cold dead hands!!!

General Pol Potts. The good old "his plane crashed" excuse.

No matter where they are, there is a Kaliber missile with their name written all over it.
It not hard to harden a drone against shotguns.
Which means in modern warfare for every 3 infantry soldiers we need at least 1 drone operator for recon and another guy with EW systems, EW gun and a shot-gun to fight against drones.

Simple job for the RA railway repair teams. Apparently done by a StormShadow, it hit the embankment just before the bridge.
OSINTdefender @sentdefender · 43m Replying to @sentdefender The Strike appears to have only caused Minor Damage to the Railway with it most likely already been or will soon be Repaired.

The question is what they have targeted, and we don't know the answer to that. Maybe lanes. Storm Shadow is too weak to make a kill on Soviet infrastructure so they are trying to make any damage.
Those are not just tanks. But engineering vehicles are used for ati mine warfare. Destroyed tanks have trails for digging out mines, too. It looks like the termination of the entire brigade-level demining tools.

One should not fall under the impression that there are no losses on the Russian side though with the materials published here.
The enemy is advancing in considerable numbers and intense fighting has been observed in Orekhov, Rabotino, Staromayorskoe and neighbouring sectors to Bakhmut. In addition to the terror attacks on Moscow and Taganrog there have also been strikes of Russian ammo storages in the Donbass at a minimum.
There are enough materials on Nazi resources such as various Reddits as well as YouTube channels such as The Sun and others. However such materials will rarely show anything other than a battle for a single trench or the ambush of a lone vehicle. Whereas the Russian videos show entire columns and formations of Ukrainian forces engaged and destroyed.

I think if they do another mobilization it will be for a reserve, as it will take min 3 months to prep these guys for any sort of deployment. They need to provide basic kit, plus tens of thousands vehicles for transport. Not really sure how long it will take to get the vehicles prepped or manufactured.

It sucks but that is the reality... Putin said 10:1 plus during the counteroffensive so far but 20-30,000 Ukrainians losses equals 2-3,000 Russians losses.
