#Summary for the morning of January 24, 2024
Yesterday morning, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike on enemy territory using air- and ground-based missiles. Missiles were launched from Tu-95ms, Tu-22m3, and Su-34 aircraft. The strikes primarily targeted Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Pavlograd. Explosions were reported in the Poltava region.
According to our data, in the Kharkov area, the evening before last, our troops opened heavy artillery fire on enemy positions in the settlement of Pletenevka, Volchansky district. As a result, the Armed Forces of Ukraine retreated from their strong point. Yesterday, units of the Russian Army conducted a raid on enemy trenches, capturing trophies and then retreating to their original positions without consolidating in empty positions. Essentially, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a daring raid on the territory of the Kharkov region of Ukraine, although it was in the nearest border area. It was difficult to verify such actions since both sides were accustomed to stable positions on the front. We have observed some increased activity of our troops in this direction.
Our attack on Belogorovka continues south of Kremennaya, and it is reported that we have occupied some enemy positions.
In the north-western region of Artyomovsk (Bakhmut), battles are taking place in Bohdanivka, and the Russian Army has also advanced to Georgievka.
Heavy fighting has been ongoing for several days in a row in the Avdeevka area near the Tsarskaya Okhota recreation center. After capturing the center, our troops advanced to the outskirts of Avdeevka. The enemy is deploying infantry into battle in an attempt to recapture lost positions and cut off a salient that extends 1.5 km deep into their defense.
Fighting continues near Novomikhailovka (between Marinka and Vuhledar). The Russian Armed Forces have the initiative and are trying to reach the road to Vuhledar by bypassing Novomikhailovka from the south. West of Marinka, our troops are operating in Georgievka.
On the Zaporozhye Front, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are practically not using armored vehicles in the ongoing battles at Verbovoy and Robotyne. Instead, they are countering our infantry attacks with their own counterattacks and employing a maneuverable defense.
There have been no changes in the Kherson direction. Due to the difficult situation of the limited forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Krynki, they are equipping enemy boats with homemade anti-ice protection equipment and attempting to increase the supply of manpower and weapons to their shores. Artillery shelling and UAV strikes are ongoing.
In the morning, the governor of the Oryol region reported on the air defense operations over Oryol: "Services have been deployed to the incident sites in the Zheleznodorozhny and Northern regions to ensure the safety of the population." In the Kursk region, the village of Gogolevka in the Sudzhansky district was shelled. In the Belgorod region, in the Valuysky urban air defense district, one air target was shot down near the village of Timonovo. The AFU attacked the settlements of Khutor Balki and Terezovka in the Shebekinsky urban district using a kamikaze drone. There were no casualties. A man born in 1949 died in Yasinovataya ( DPR ), and a woman born in 1952 also died. In total, 14 civilians were injured in the Republic during the day.
