They are destroying Russia's ability to detect nuclear missiles launched against it. How is this irrelevant?
ALAMO wrote: Sure they do. And it is a brand new system, with the first sattelite in orbit in 2015 only. It is called EKS - Edinaya Kosmicheska Sistiema. Six satellites, two on geostationary orbit.
I know the system - good to know everything is in place
Arrow wrote:Apparently 4 EKS satellites are operational. The first two no longer work because they have reached the end of their life? Four satellites are able to provide continuous control of all potential missile launch areas. Only Russia and the USA still have a satellite early warning system. Therefore, it is impossible to surprise both Russia and the USA with a nuclear attack.
It is quite easy to verify. The oldest two are Kosmos 2510 and 2518. And both are operational as we speak, you can track them on line.
Kosmos 2510
Kosmos 2518

I hesitate between hysterical squirrels and clowns to properly illustrate the behavior of some people writing on the forum about the delusional claims of Ukrainian propaganda about causing some unacceptable damage to Russian missile warning systems. Like what? Does the US want to suddenly attack Russia with nuclear bombs? Welcome - you can always make sure that the consequences for you are inevitable.

Very interesting, first hand experience how is the procedure of immigrating to Russia being a Ukrainian.
In Russian, but you can use automatic translation I hope. Anyway, the process of questioning is extremely intensive, and takes 3x more time than for other migrants - 18-24h interrogations are not unusual.
There is only one way to get into Russia, which is by plane and Sheremetievo airport, where a specialized hub for this task is created. The procedure includes interrogations with a lie detector and is being carried out by specialized FSB interrogators. Still, every single day 100-150 Ukrainians are coming to Russia. Very much telling story I would say, and clearly indicates that every single whining of how the Russkie are not paying attention to the security issues are pure bullshit. Honestly, I am quite shocked, as the procedures clearly have been tightened up a lot if compared to the whole of 2022. And by the way, the guy here is from Lugansk, so in there he should be treated more softly. Well, he was not.

I didn't know that Russia's ability to detect the launch of nuclear missiles was limited to just a single radar, which will be repaired in a few weeks...

They are destroying the civilian leadership's capability to manage the nuclear arsenal.
From now on control of Russia's nuclear weapons will be on hair trigger in the hands of an AI that may or may not decide to launch first because it decided that the Russian state will be best served without the entirety of NATO...

During the night, air defense shot down 12 ethereal aircraft over the Bryansk (1), Belgorod (1), Oryol (6) regions and the Krasnodar Territory (4), the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
A UAV fell on the territory of a fuel station in the Oryol region, killing the driver of the fire department and injuring three more employees. Governor Andrey Klychkov announced this.

They are not. This infrastructure was built to deal with the nuclear scale of conflict including real superpowers. How dumb one must be, to believe that a 2m sized drone flying 200+ km/h can do any serious damage to it? Actually, it is not about being dumb but about being troll. Azeris were using An-2s as drones years ago, having a stock of some 200 of those. Filled with 2t of explosives, those were really tool of doom against ill-equipped and untrained Armenians - actually more Karabachs. Ukrs did less having all that experience and 10x the tools than they have done. Stepenkert waves Azeri flag. 1/5th og Ukraine not so much.

So as hig has shown, the Ukies are using these rather large drones that fly slow (guess in order to get maximum range) and attacking russias OTH radar sites. They managed to cause some minor damage to 1 and then tried to claim against another but people fell for their nonsense. Drone was shot down before even reaching site.
But anyway, talk is cheap when the story is good.
In terms of damage, during repair, Russia can place a Nebo M radar system to temporarily work till the fixed structure is repaired.
Voronezh M/DM is not an OTH radar. These radars have huge ranges of 6,000 km and operate at decimeter and meter wavelengths. They look very high at RV warheads and satellites. OTH is a Container radar and work on HF frequency.Often in various descriptions they say that it is an OTH radar, which is wrong.
If it was damaged in the first place. One pic exists as proof. Could be doctored. Remember all the scenes from video games the whole western MSM presented as real war images.
arrests have begun in Yerevan.
I hope there will be an outcry in the western world about this blatant misuse of power. I hope the Eu will demand the immediate release of all protesters or sanctions will be imposed against the armenian regime.

The slower they fly the harder for the radar to detect them. Follow a road and most radars will think they are cars and ignore them.

Has Zelinsky personal protection flipped from UK to US. See 15 seconds in, looks US to me.
Obviously it could only be a US trained soldier that can stop hypersonic missiles...
@Karl, dude... we know very little about these alleged attacks but lets pretend they were 100% and both radars were totally destroyed... do you think their other assets monitoring western nuclear weapons facilities and exercises will suddenly stop watching?
Do you think either of these two radar are pivotal and that without them Russia will be destroyed without firing a shot?
More importantly the photo evidence so far has been pathetic and if Kiev was targeting Russian strategic nuclear defence equipment then I would say the solution would be to eliminate the leadership who thought that was a good idea... but maybe that is the plan.
Zelensky has become a liability and the west wants Russia to take him out for them.
We don't know anything about either attacks other than they were not effective... we know they weren't effective because they are not being mentioned by the serious political leaders... while lower politicians mention it as reports from Ukraine rather than first hand knowledge of a real incident.

I think I am going to start calling Karl Kent Brockman from now on. . . .
Many countries in the EU, however, still have some sense and oppose Ukraine launching attacks with Western weapons on Russian territory. Even though this won't change much, the US will still allow this type of attacks.

afaik that was Armavir according to Rybar. The drone was apparently Portugal's AR-3.
It has endurance of 16 hours. Converted to range it can travel 1300 Km. The cruise velocity of this drone makes it challenging as it's 90 km/h This is below the minimum threshold of some early warning radar e.g Podlet or 96L6 which limited to some 120 km/h. RCS is likely to be small too. Maybe in order of 0.2 sqm or less.
