Morozovsk: destroyed at least one Su-34, plus bomb & UMPK  storage

Last attack, Marinovka, aside from ammunition storage that was blown off, it is still not clear, possibly more will be know in next few days. Per picture, I wouldn't exclude some damaged planes.

I don't see what Serbia has to do with anything. We never claimed to be military superpower, neither we claim "analogov net" super duper weapons. At this point, considering everything, Russian MoD should light a candle every day to creators of Soviet nuclear program.

Here's work of air defence in Savaslievka. By pure luck Il-76 was not hit:

    More drones hit the base.

The future will be different for airforce bases.

Essentially, the best method is having spaces between shelters and parking spots, and having SHORADS to provide AD against drones.

Live and learn.  Only thing is, Russia doesn't learn all that well and they end up spending more money on jets.  I guess that is an economical incentive to keep production going.......

We are still unsure what they have for AD in the area and how many they shot down and how many managed to get through. We are given tidbits and have to go off of that.

these drone attacks are detected very early and the bases are scrambled out of aircraft. the case of the su-34 was unfortunate because they couldn`t fly it out due to an issue with the onboard equipment.

like literally these bases are under threat of a bolt from blue nuclear attack for decades. you really think they don`t practice for that shit? Rolling Eyes

Yeah, but remember Russia never learns any lessons at all and any faggot on the interweb knows 10000% better than they know obviously....

Because that is where experts come from.

No investigations necessary at all because we know all we need to know.  Rolling Eyes

I hope none of you park your cars on the street at home or at work... they need to be parked inside because that makes them 100% safe... except cars inside can still be broken into and damaged so all that money and effort to protect them is actually wasted but lets not learn any lessons.

Funny how often "they got lucky" is mentioned with nazi attacks... except they are essentially being exterminated with the full assistance and encouragement of their allies... how lucky is that really?

But let the tears keep flowing and the whining continue because obviously war is about killing the enemy and taking no losses at all... bloody children.

I doubt if real-time satellite / Radar data is guiding the Ukrs Rocket and drones . But I am no expert , I could be wrong . But even if real-time data is provided , still moving targets , does no harm and is the easiest most cost effective way of overcoming the GPS guided weapons . Ships can be moved regularly , so can planes that  land on Roads and serviced . Better than building expensive defences , that do not work against heavy warhead Rockets . AD , can then protect targets that can not be moved . If Rockets attacking , using real-time data , within a few minutes , then mid-air refuelling and using rear areas and airfields becomes only option . Civilian passenger planes can be converted to refuelling Tankers . I said before that Ukraine war can be fought using conventional weapons . But if Ukrs together with NATO backers attack NPP causing radiation poisoning , then nuclear power plant in NATO country can also be a target . There should already be a drone hitting a plant in western Europe or America .

    Twisted Evil

They do not owe anything to them. The nuclear deterrent relies on the backs of Yars and Bulava. All developed after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Russia has an advantage in strategic systems over the rest of the network that even the USSR did not have. Apart from the number of warheads, because during the Cold War there were more missiles and nuclear warheads.

All in less than 20 days. It's not like there's a granite defense and something slipped through. It became a regular occurrence, at this point.

I don't know how you can expect the Russians to fight against NATzo without any material and human casualties? This is tragic but shit happens.
Just look at how effective 404's 100% interception rate is! Laughing

You mention slow flying attack drones. It is clear that these things are quite hard to detect. Probably the best example of this is how the Russian used the Lancet against 404's radar stations - clearly without ever being detected.

I'm pretty sure the Russian are working around the clock to counter these threats effectively and I don't think they will leave air bases without any air defense at all. Even the smallest ships and units have some sort of means to protection against drones, but again sometimes shit happens.

One thing is certain though - they will have to invest in better means to protect stationary aircraft.

    It is a delusion bro.
Nobody on earth - aside Better Korea and maybe Iran - is building the shelters that would make any difference.
I was telling you that already multiple times.
Modern modular construction for military is light.
Aircraft shelters are being made of composites made of aluminum sheets and PUR foam for insulation.
It does not make any difference. You can punch it through with a screwdriver - and I know that by experience Laughing
The really temporary and light ones - with insulated canvas ...
There is one trend we can follow now, which is making shelters BIG.
This is an approach observed in the newest Chinese constructions, and in general, it seems a well-thought direction.
The covered space allows spreading the planes inside at a wide area, making smaller drones attack low effective - if you don't know where a plane is, inside a 50 000 m2 building - you can attack it precisely.
It would require again some serious weapon, to collapse all of the structure, or make a devastating blow on a wide area.
So - again - it is a partial solution for low intensity conflicts only.
If your opponent has some serious means of attack - it will just demolish those big buildings. Iskander will cover a 7ha area with one warhead ...

I'm not just talking about aircraft shelters but various means as protection.

One such could be similar to the Barrier Pack defense against various types of drones (Post 412)

    https://www.russiadefence.net/t7159p400-russian-defence-against-drone-swarms.

Sand burns and strategically placed armoured/concrete structures could provide adequate protection against shrapnel and cluster warheads.

Layered AD and ECM is a must have means of protection. But yes nothing is fail safe.

This is totally new type of warefare, and everyone will experiment till some solid solutions will be found out.
Some won't be ever - Chinese have already tested a drone that matches a bird.
All over - size, radar cross section, movement mechanics.
You won't b able to distinguish it from a real bird.
Now combine it with independent gyroscopic or optical terrain matching command and some AI algorithms to pick up the targets - and what you get is a weapon system that practically can't be neither intercepted nor jammed.

AD systems now have a tough opponent. Similar to hypersonic cruise missiles. However, in this case, such drones will carry a small payload, but in the case of unfortified targets, it will be completely sufficient. They can also attack in large swarms. Although swarms of "birds" flying towards some military and civilian installations, hmmm, that's suspicious.
In the case of drones with AI, the effectiveness of ECM will also decrease. Interesting times. The war in Ukraine gave a fairly strong impulse to the development of UAVs and not only that, this conflict gives a big impulse to the development of many weapons systems, unlike other conflicts in previous years. Such is the charm of symmetrical conflicts.

I don't know how you can expect the Russians to fight against NATzo without any material and human casualties? This is tragic but shit happens.

And this wasn't even a tragedy... it seems they got a plane that was under repair and they claim some dumb bombs and some bomb guidance kits... not a tragedy... not an enormous deal even...

If they lost people then that would be a tragedy... this is just unfortunate...

One thing is certain though - they will have to invest in better means to protect stationary aircraft.

It is always a question of cost effectiveness... it doesn't make sense to spend too much if they only get one plane that is being fixed... if that plane wasn't being fixed and could leave with the others this attack was pointless.

More importantly most American drones they are using are like 50-100K each so if they are using swarms of them they will be burning through rather more money than they are creating damage... if they had any brains at all (which I would never accuse them of to be honest) they would just sell the Javelins and Stingers and drones on the black market and pocket a hell of a lot more money than they are doing damage to Russia.

The attacks on that fuel ship alone will likely increase the price of fuel internationally and they will make more money than they just lost.

It would require again some serious weapon, to collapse all of the structure, or make a devastating blow on a wide area.

Heavy snow would probably do it though...

All over - size, radar cross section, movement mechanics.
You won't b able to distinguish it from a real bird.

That is OK... laser the little buggers anyway...

Now combine it with independent gyroscopic or optical terrain matching command and some AI algorithms to pick up the targets - and what you get is a weapon system that practically can't be neither intercepted nor jammed.

That sort of disguise would only work on those who don't want to shoot down birds... after the first successful attack with them the enemy is going to understand the threat and birds are going to get wiped out locally near all airfields and military installations.

And of course optimised EMP weapons wont harm real birds...

Summary of the Russian Ministry of Defense on the progress of repelling the attempted invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into the territory of the Russian Federation (as of August 23, 2024)

The units of the North group of forces, with the support of army aviation and artillery fire, repelled attacks by enemy assault groups in the direction of the settlements of Borki and Malaya Loknya, and also thwarted attempts to attack in the direction of Komarovka, Korenevo, Martynovka and Russian Konopelka. As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 70 people killed and wounded, two armored combat vehicles and a car were destroyed.

Reconnaissance and search operations are continuing to identify and destroy sabotage groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the forests trying to penetrate deep into the Russian territory. An enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group was discovered and destroyed in the area of the village of Kamyshevka. The enemy's losses amounted to 5 people and one car.

Air strikes, artillery fire and troop actions hit concentrations of manpower and equipment of the 22nd, 61st and 115th mechanized, 80th airborne assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Apanasovka, Alexandria, Vishnevka, Guevo, Mikhaylovka, Lyubimovka, Malaya Loknya, Plekhovo, Snagost and Yuzhny.

Tactical air strikes were carried out on the areas of concentration of personnel and military equipment of enemy reserves in the Sumy region: 41st and 54th mechanized, 82nd and 95th airborne assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 36th Marine Brigade, 101st, 103rd, 106th and the 129th Air Defense Brigade, as well as the 69th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Alexandrovka, Bachevsk, Buyankino, Vorozhba, Glukhov, Kamenka, Miropole, Mogritsa, Novaya Sloboda, Obody, Pervomaiske, Pavlovka, Svessa, Sededina Buda and Tolstodubovo.

During the day, the losses of the Armed Forces amounted to: up to 400 military personnel and 17 armored vehicles, including: one tank, two armored personnel carriers, 14 armored combat vehicles, as well as two artillery pieces, an MLRS launcher, two mortars and 10 vehicles.

In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost: 5,137 military personnel, 69 tanks, 27 infantry fighting vehicles, 55 armored personnel carriers, 350 armored combat vehicles, 158 vehicles, 34 artillery pieces, five anti-aircraft missile systems, 11 multiple launch rocket launchers, including three HIMARS MLRS and one MLRS, six electronic warfare stations, four units of engineering equipment, including two engineering barrier vehicles and one UR-77 mine clearance unit.

The operation to destroy the AFU formations continues.

    https://function.mil.ru/news_page/country/more.htm?id=12526427@egNews

NOTE: Ukrainians keep throwing fresh fodder into the fire so the casualties and equipment losses keep mounting. Above report suggests 14 Ukrainian units involved now.

If they can't organize mobile teams with HMGs and activate some Shilka's from reserves, in two and a half years, to shoot down slow flying drones, then as fellow Serbian puts it "they didn't deserve to have planes in the first place". We are talking about military airports they should protect.

Do you realise how hard it would be to hit a tiny drone with a HMG?

And having dozens of teams of guys with HMGs blazing 12.7mm calibre ammo all round an operational airfield would probably do more damage than it would prevent... you do understand a 12.7mm HMG round would punch straight through any drone ever made and continue with most of its energy intact ready to punch a hole in anything it hits beyond that drone... HMG rounds are lethal to humans to ranges of 6 to 7 km... in fact if you don't coordinate them you could have drone pilots flying low between defence teams so they end up shooting at each other... not to mention any aircraft they might hit trying to get those drones.

This is a multidimensional war, and while economical and foreign affairs parts of Russia are pulling their own weight and then some, Russian MoD is proving that they are weakest part of Russian government. That's what happens when nepotism takes over. Thank God Soviet scientists and state left massive nuclear arsenal.

Ahhh **** off... every military on the planet would not do as well as Russia is doing against the most powerful terrorist organisation on the planet... HATO.... and their nazi bitches in Kiev.

Nepotism has nothing at all to do with this that is all in your head.

Putin is also to blame to a considerable degree, and I think he is an ethnic Ukrainian. This could explain his hostility to ethnic Poles.

He doesn't need to be ethnically Ukrainian to hate those that hate Russians.

Poles could stop supporting nazis in the Ukraine and nazis in the west if they want Putin to like them, but I doubt they honestly care.

It is nice to have someone else to blame for all your problems... it makes sleeping at night easier because everything is their fault...

Of course it means a lot of your tax money is going to nazis and offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands...

    Living the American dream...

Yes, air bases. The can't protect everything, obviously, but air bases should be priority. Especially, from these slow flying drones. Sooner or later, US will see that Russia is not reacting and Ukrainians will start hitting airports in old territories with ATACMS and Storm shadows. It is almost certain, at this point, that they'll give them JASSM-ER next, as well.
Air base was hit pretty bad.

They better hurry up because all the resources taken from the front lines to run this incursion has made Russian advances actually much faster... a few pivotal places captured and the Ukrainian front line will collapse and need to be rebuilt and redesigned...

    - if AD systems were present and how many they shot down. We know Ukraine usually does swarm attacks.

    - we don't know if anything of worth was damaged besides some shelters.

So if we are assuming things, it becomes pointless.

Another obvious question would be why defend an airfield if you evacuated it?

The war in Ukraine gave a fairly strong impulse to the development of UAVs and not only that, this conflict gives a big impulse to the development of many weapons systems, unlike other conflicts in previous years. Such is the charm of symmetrical conflicts.

Funding for the Russian military has been massively boosted and the problems of dealing with artillery and with drones are now being worked on.

We have seen that the problems of air defence against conventional threats are pretty solid for the Russians, and it has been expanded to include defence against ballistic missiles and stealth threats and drones will be added soon enough...

Low cost SAMs will enable artillery shells and rockets to be engaged individually when needed... and Russia will likely find a lot of export success for all the air defence systems they develop... but also rather importantly the drones they develop to attack targets are already rather potent and effective... more effective than western drones being used for these attacks...

HATO is in for a shock.

Is this unusual? Hitting two targets at almost the same time.

I would guess that it was one missile that hit a target and a nearby fragile vulnerable target was hit by the shockwave and ignited/burned too.

Try to laser every single sparrow out there

How would real sparrows react to a drone?

It might try to hide amongst real birds but it will want to go a specific direction and would have no way of influencing the direction the birds are flying.

An airburst 57mm shell would take out a good portion of the group at a time.

    Wouldn't take too long.

NOTE: Ukrainians keep throwing fresh fodder into the fire so the casualties and equipment losses keep mounting. Above report suggests 14 Ukrainian units involved now.

As long as they keep coming Russia should keep shooting and killing.
