Zelensky introduced new commanders in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The enemy must be known by sight. The new commanders of the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are:

✖ Commander of the Air Force - Major General Nikolai Oleshchuk (in position from 2021)

✖ Commander of the Air Assault Forces - Colonel Maxim Mirgorodsky

✖ Commander of the Operational Command "South" - Major General Andrey Kovalchuk

Commander of the Vostok Operational Command - Major General Oleg Mikats

✖ Commander of the operational command "West" - Colonel Sergey Litvinov

✖ Deputy Chief of the General Staff Colonel Volodymyr Koval

📝 “The most important thing is our approach now, they all have combat experience,” Zelensky said.

enormous export potential as more S-125 systems operated worldwide than in the Soviet Union.

The SA-3 was the low to medium partner to the medium to high altitude SA-2 and together they defended Soviet airspace... the SA-2 shooting down the bombers and high flying recon aircraft and the SA-3 engaging fighters and cruise missiles at medium and low altitudes...

Not perfect but not useless either, and are still very widely used.

Britain and Canada opposed the use of cluster munitions in Ukraine.

Interesting contrast with their view on DU rounds...

Azov commanders back in Kiev from Turkey. Once more has been proven that Turkish "guarantees" are not worth for shit. With such "allies", who needs enemies? Let's see another "goodwill gesture" grain deal extension.

Russia can't kill those nazis of they are in Turkey... and that grain deal is dead.

Ukraine wins Turkey’s backing for Nato membership but Biden urges caution on timing

Actually it is clever because countries complaining that Turkey wont let Sweden in means Turkey can now say why don't you want Ukraine in...

It is against HATOs rules to allow a country at war to join... it is against their rules to allow countries with border disputes to join.

Apparently, Putin is scheduled to have a meeting with Erdogan next month, but with the recent backstabbing moves by Turkey, I don't see any reason for such a meeting to happen.

What backstabbing... giving Russia the chance to kill some Azov nazis is doing them a favour... they no doubt will hot foot it to the front line... where Russia can get them like they did before... but this time they wont take them prisoner.

Ukraine won't get into NATO but Putin needs to get his shit together. Prigohzin going back untouched and now Erdogan. That country keeps pushing its luck because Russia does nothing. A nuclear super power getting pushed around. Hilarious

Aww come on... how the **** do you know what Putin is or is not doing?

China just imposed sanctions on the US over rare earth metals... weak America getting pushed around by China... New Zealand has an anti nuclear policy so US warships can't visit here because they have a policy of not saying whether their ships have nuclear weapons on board or not... so tiny little New Zealand pushing the bit powerful nuclear super power around too?

    Flat trajectory. Direct fire mode?

    Yes.

It can also fire at close targets using high elevation like a conventional mortar.

I believe there are HEAT rounds for direct fire against armour too.

You can see its high rate of fire firing off four mortar bombs very quickly (in four round clips).

    Views

Russia needs to take measures to kill those who went back, and have a good look at the agreements they made and the promises they made and decide which parts of the agreement that they didn't like and now they are free to do that.

Cancel meeting between Putin and Erdogan, cancel the grain deal and ultimately put pressure on turkey via turk stream.

Don't cancel the meeting, that would be stupid. The grain deal is being cancelled for the reasons that the other side never complied with their side of the deal... very much like the Minsk agreements and we know how that turned out. The agreement over the Azov soldiers would have had things Turkey had to do and things Russia had to do for the Turks to continue to honour their side of the deal. The Turks broke that deal so whatever Russia promised to do in return they are no longer bound to do... that should be enough.

Turkey needs cheap gad way more than Russia needs the money and Turkeys economy is faltering. Why give them so much leniency?

Because being a petty censored and turning Turkey into an enemy of Russia would be fucking stupid from a Russian perspective.... they control access to the Black Sea and they are part of HATO and are not following US dictated sanctions against Russia.

In the middle of the convoy is a Pantsir, with radar operating.

    Wrong thread.

There is a saying, “The fool even in the church gets beaten”

Best not to be that fool when dealing with such “partners”

Should really thank Erdogan for putting those criminals back on the menu.

The main theses of the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, regarding the return of the "Azov" personnel from Turkey are as follows:

    - The return of the "Azov" personnel from Turkey to Ukraine violates the existing agreements. Both the Turkish and Ukrainian sides have violated the conditions.

    - According to the agreements, they were supposed to stay in Turkey until the end of the conflict.

    - Russia was not informed about the transfer of the "Azov" personnel to Ukraine.

Not perfect but not useless either, and are still very widely used.

Back in 60s cruise missiles were inexisting issue, so nobody really constructed the system against those. But yes, tactical aircraft was a primary target as both Berkut and Dwina were ineffective against fast low flying targets mainly due to their own interferences caused by the on ground infrastructure/landscape.
Aside, S-125 was "mobile" as you could tow the missile racks and relocate those to a reserve location. As it took several hours to dismount, relocate and mount again, a whole feature is arguable Laughing until S-125M was introduced in the 70s.
But the modernization program was quite impressive, including the ones made for Egipt and India. There was even one quite interesting project directed to S-300 users, so exSovU members. S-125 was linked with S-300PS, and operated with the S-300 radar. The thing increased the capabilities of any regular S-125M by a factor, as new radar resolved most of the system pains - relatively low resistance to radar beam reflections.

@re: cluster ammo again, just in case someone has missed that :

    https://t.me/levigodman/9279

As I said, grandpa Joe said that laud and open : they run out of other ammo to supply. That's why they will deliver some that is in storage for years, was produced decades ago, and when fresh new has a malfunction rate of 14%.

What GarryB said about the difference in the reaction in Europe , against the use of cluster submunitions compared to the use of DU rounds is important . I think this concern and fear in Europe disguised as social morality , has it's roots in the public perceptions . I heard a news reporter say " ....Oh ! The Russians are only talking about Nukes to frighten us . " This means that Nukes have lost their appeal in the public perceptions , as a real threat compared to fragmentation bomblets ! Even if one is far more destructive than the other . How can we put the Nukes on the menu , for the western public's perceptual edification ? The desired result , one of objection to the supply of DU and hopefully all weapons to the Orcs ?

None of this makes sense to me. If Russia went into Ukraine to de-Nazify the country, why were the chief Nazi commanders comfortably detained in Turkey? And why is the Russian reaction a pussy-footed statement from Peskov and not a Kinzhal warhead on their homecoming rally in Lvov?

Azov commanders back in Kiev from Turkey.
Now the whole world is reminded that these losers pledged to fight to the death in Mariupol just to raise the white flag.
Then they talked with russian interrogators and gave away all they knew for a long vacation in Turkey.
    Remember Shevchenko?

S-125 is useless. I doubt they still have anyone that knows how to operate it, it will probably be manned by polish crews.

And again same problem as for the other soviet system, missiles don't last more than 10-15 years. There is no real stock of good missiles. Every launch will be risky for the crews.

It's also a static system. Iskander will easily take care of it once spotted by satelittes.

Russian Pechora 2M upgrade is quite good but still has lot of disadvantages.

Pantsir is just one vehicle and does better than the whole S-125 system with just 3 crew members.

The S-125 is not useless, but if Patriot and S-300 and NASAMs are not good enough to do the job I don't think they will be any sort of breakthrough no matter how upgraded they are.

Not being very mobile their locations can be pin pointed and gliding bombs can be used to take them out while Kh-58 or Kh-31 can take out their radars.

    From Wikipedia.ru

In 1994, it was reported that a special cumulative mine was created for firing 2B9/2B9M direct fire at armored targets.

The "special cumulative mine" probably refers to a tandem HEAT round?

The 2s9/2S23/2S32 and 2B16 120mm gun mortars also have direct firing capabilities with AP rounds.

The US is destroying NATO over the supply of cluster munitions for the Armed Forces by Lyubov Stepushova for Military Pravda. 07.09.2023.

According to the liberal nature of the Western world, a split in NATO over the supply of cluster munitions to the Armed Forces of Ukraine has a more destructive effect on the alliance than other disagreements.

The life of a Ukrainian is insignificant for Washington and Kyiv

The United States will send Ukraine old models of cluster munitions that do not work immediately in 14% of cases, The New York Times reported. Military experts told the newspaper that this was an "unacceptably high" level, as it would lead to huge civilian casualties. Cluster munitions consist of containers that open in the air and scatter a large number of small projectiles randomly.

According to Joe Biden , Washington decided to supply "cassettes" because it ran out of conventional shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

National Security Adviser to the President of the United States Jake Sullivan at a press conference at the White House explained as follows:

“We understand that cluster bombs pose a risk to the civilian population. That’s why we delayed this decision as long as we could… but it will be even more risky if Russian troops go ahead and take even more Ukrainian territory, because Ukraine has no artillery ".

With Vladimir Zelenskii, he does not care that the population of Ukraine will be destroyed.

This is despite the fact that the former press attaché of the White House, Jane Psaki, stated in February 2022 that the use of cluster bombs is a war crime. However, the United States can change its mind, international law has not been a decree for them for a long time. Moreover, after the depleted uranium, which floated in a cloud through western Ukraine to Poland, cluster shells are "not so scary" for Washington.

Cognitive dissonance of the liberal world

NATO, through its Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg , said on Friday that each member state should decide on a case-by-case basis whether to give a green light to cluster munition shipments.

It must be taken into account that the liberal world thinks that it is to take care of the "little man" and his rights, and the right to life is the main right, and this is put at the forefront of their entire philosophy and requirements for another world. Therefore, Washington's decision caused a shock in the West.

Germany, Britain, Spain, Canada opposed the supply of cluster munitions, which signed the 2008 Convention on the Prohibition of the Production and Use of Cluster Munitions (Russia, the USA and Ukraine did not sign it).

Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles stressed that this is a US decision, not NATO. In her opinion, such weapons should not be used even in the framework of "legitimate defence".

The list of disagreements is expanding, a split is planned in NATO

Differences within NATO are widening on many other issues, including:

[*]admission of Ukraine to NATO. The US and Germany are pushing to focus on arms and munitions rather than a more provocative step towards a formal invitation to join NATO.
    [*]increase in the production of ammunition for Ukraine. France is against the involvement of countries that are not members of the alliance;
    [*]admission of Sweden to NATO (against Türkiye and Hungary). Recep Tayyip Erdogan accuses Sweden of being too lenient towards "Kurdish terrorist groups";
    [*]increased military spending by each NATO country. NATO leaders in Vilnius are to sign a new defense spending commitment of "at least" 2% of gross domestic product. But many countries, including Luxembourg, Germany, Canada and Italy, are against it. According to estimates released by NATO, only 11 out of 31 Allies are expected to hit the 2% target this year;
    [*]the election of a new NATO Secretary General - there is no compromise option;
[*]the policy of containing China, which will lead to the destruction of the economies of the EU countries in order to prepare for war with the PLA.

Russia's opinion on cluster bombs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the American decision on cluster munitions is a "gesture of desperation" and "evidence of impotence" against the background of the failure of the publicized Ukrainian "counteroffensive" in order to prolong the agony of the Ukrainian authorities. This was stated by the Ambassador to the United States Sergei Antonov.

He warned that the next "miracle weapon", which Washington and Kiev are counting on, without thinking about the grave consequences for the civilian population, will in no way affect the course of the special operation, the goals and objectives of which will be fully achieved. And Washington will actually be an accomplice in the mining of the territory and will fully share the responsibility for those who died from explosions, including Russian and Ukrainian children.

Russia decided to exchance these azov militants for Medvechuk.

This guy should know what happened, no reason to say it.

Boris Rozhin quotes Azov commander “Volyna” from his interview with the Turkish media:

I’d like to start training reinforcements. My combat experience is limited to the defense of Mariupol, and since then military practice has advanced a lot. All this needs to be mastered. I don’t want to go straight to the front. Perhaps this would be important for propaganda purposes, but we have already been kept for almost a month in the catacombs under Azovstal for propaganda purposes, where we senselessly lost hundreds of our soldiers.

And, probably, almost everyone would have died there if not for the intervention of the Americans, who made a deal with the Russians to withdraw their high-ranking officers from the facility in exchange for the capitulation of the garrison…
